At this point it doesn't matter where he goes does it? As long as he goes and we get something in return.

Nope, it doesn't. But I would even take nothing in return, as a gift, from a friend.

Salary retained I could see a team offering a 6th rounder for him. I could even see the Leafs being a team he would want to go to and they are looking to add

First thing I thought when I heard the Coyotes were retaining salary on Michael Stone's contract was "Aw man, they think they can move Wideman, don't they?"

Maximum return for Wideman is a 5th round draft choice and even then I think we may behave to throw in a low level prospect. I think there is an 80% chance he is still here after the trade deadline.

But I mean you can buy those at FanAttic, which further goes to lower the likelihood that it was anything meaningful.

This "source" was textbook hearsay. It's more than likely a coincidence that Leslie's scoop was revealed today. It was small, but I figured why not share it?
You know what? He's right. Tell everyone your "source" is likely complete crap but still share it. Good on you.
You're taking a lot of flak, but I still appreciate any rumor no matter how unfounded. Especially if you premise it with full disclosure like you did.

Will cement Treliving's reputation if he pulls off some deal for the player who single handed changed the team from the least penalized team in the league to the team who gets called for every little ticky tack foul.

Curious how you arrive at some very arbitrary values and percentages?

If Treliving gets a bidding war for Wideman then he deserves a life long extension. He probably got the trainers to bubble wrap him to ensure nothing happens to Wideman.

Are we sure he wasn't talking about the Ottawa Wideman?

That is what I was thinking. One team is probably kicking the tire on Wideman, the other is Benning thinking our Wideman is the Ottawa one. Hence multiple teams.

1) Call Benning

2) Email a link to Chris Wideman highlights

3) Trade D Wideman to Van

4) Get 2nd Rounder = Profit
