I love how after years of being absolutely nowhere and having a fan forum that was an absolute ghost town the last decade. And now after 2/3 of a winning season and probably 5000 2016/2017 registration dates on said forum some "flames fans" have magically come out of the woodwork to applaud the absolute clown show that goes on up North and the magical resurgence of support for them. You haven't even made the playoffs this year. Go #### yourself and come back when your real team has at least accomplished a clinched playoff berth.
I love how you can use the same post in two different threads to address the same troll.
Well Done.

People in Edmonton do wear more Oilers stuff and have more bumper stickers and flags and whatnot. That's their fashion choice and they are sticking with it.
It's going to go away though. Nobody under 20 cares about the Oilers. In fact, they care more about the Raptors and Blue Jays.
I'm assuming they didn't sellout suites or club seats. 18,347 is likely reserved seating number. BTW, I'm not ripping on Flames being in a "poor" hockey market. It isn't.

So Oilers almost sell out but it's explainable and ok. Flames almost sell out and let's start a thread questioning fan loyalty? Makes sense.
Hopefully this thread won't open a can of worms. I'm a Flames fan first and foremost. Been that way since 1997. Woo hoo!!
Oilers are our rivals. However, why is the hockey culture stronger in that city vs Calgary ? You see more logos on vehicles, radio attention, fan interactions. It's really a legitimate question to ask. They sold out during ten dark years. We are averaging almost 800 below capacity for this season....
I'll probably get an infraction. However I'd prefer some honest responses without hate.
There are several reasons for this:
Their dynasty- this has helped them sell their history.
They were owned by mom and pop types for a while and I think the community wanted to support that.
They got all those first round picks and there was hope.
And if you talk about now, than Connor ####ing McDavid. He has really helped that team in terms of selling the team(see jersey sales).
Having said that the culture is strong in Calgary despite the Flames not doing much(a cup win and a Cinderella run are all the Flames have to cheer for).
If the team was doing good or if the Flames has a player in top 5 scoring than there would be more jerseys(speaking of jerseys they could use a new dragon) and other stuff.
I originally asked why Edmonton " sold out" ( Yes I know butts in seats vs tickets sold) all their games during a dark period. Why it seemed the team was more ingrained with the culture etc. It definitely looks " trolling" wasn't meant that way.
