Say what you want about Vancouver they get a lead, tighten up, and rely on Miller
He may heave cost them a point but the lack of finish from his mates more alarming to me. Lot's of good setups in front of the net with plays like Mony having an empty net tapin in the first but can't finish the play.

Yah, it's the coaching, not his dedication and preparation.

Gaudreau is not a player that can carry a team on his back....he is a playmaker

he makes plays...need some finish if we want to get the most out of him

To me it really looks like GG's system doesn't work for the Flames. He spent three years in Vancouver and his coaching style would be perfect for that roster. He doesn't involve the defensemen in the offense, becasue Vancouver has never had a dynamic d-man. The offensive game is all cycle, which you can do well when you have the telekinetic twins out there for a third of the game. He hasn't adapted his tactics (which are working very well for the 3M and Stajan lines) to fit his entire roster which is a major failing.

Sad about the loss, but at the same time if the team is going to lose, hopefully it's at least in OT. Other teams in the race are loading up on loser points. We need those. Nice to get some help on the OOT board too.

Elliott let in the most brutal goal of the season. Then proceeds to put on a great performance. The game should have been 2-0, as the Flames got extremely lucky the ref decided to call the play dead on goal #2.

The team lacks finshers, plain and simple. A common theme tonight was 'couldn't get the puck on net', but instead it should be WOULND'T get the puck on net. To many players skating wide on the rush (Brodie, wtf??), and tap ins being missed. Johnny has had a frustrating season for sure, but if Monahan taps the pass in the first suddenly it's a great play. Having said that, he's lost his ability to juke and jive or spin around players. Frustrating to watch as it's plays like that, that made him successful.

But in the end Gio made a good play to get the high stick call and score the tying goal. We got a point, LA lost, refs screwed up on the 2nd Van goal, and Flames controlled most of the play. Other then not getting the 2nd point, can't really complain about much.

This iteration of the Canucks seem to be masters of eeking out points they don't fully deserve. A lot of rope a dope out there tonight. Not very impressive at all tbqh. But that's what they have to do to get points with the lack of his end skill they can put out there.

Miller doing Price/Kipper things for his team. I still think the Flames didn't make life as hard for him as they could've for much of the night. Not enough traffic and difficult natured shots. They'll get their offensive stride back in time though.

Even with tonight, Canucks are pretty much all but out of it.

Still proud of the boys for tying it. Baby steps. They were wayyyy overdue for a dramatic late equalizer. It's been ages.

They gain a point on LA, and now LA can only be a max of 2 points up on them IF they win all games in hand. So still very much in the heat of things.

Hopefully this does a lot for their belief and resilience. Just being able to refer to that knowledge of having done it before this season helps them to do it again.

Difference in the game tonight: Elliott played good but let one in from center ice, Miller played good and didn't let one in from center ice.

Surprised at how many people are jumping on Johnny tonight. He created an incredible number of scoring opportunities for his teammates. His teammates need to start hitting the net and potting in easy scoring chances. Defenders are guarding his shot so he needs his teammates to start finishing. Overall though, all the teams Flames are chasing lost and we picked up a point. I'll take it.

Also something that becomes pretty obvious when struggling to score against teams like Vancouver tonight is that Monahan needs to not be the only gifted finisher on the team.

The goals have to go through more 'regular' sources before this team will elevate to the next level.

One hoped Bennett would be an answer to that but he's struggling in too many facets of the game to begin with. Why on earth isn't he on the wing yet.. He'll become a useful player eventually but the team should be giving him the best chance to succeed right now.

Frolik's effort in the 34 seconds of OT was horrendous. Wished it was Gaudreau out there instead.
