Default Star Trek - Starfleet Academy at Telus SPARK

Opening on February 4, 2017, Star Trek: The Starfleet Academy Experience will be at TELUS Spark until June 4, 2017.

Upon entering the exhibit, you'll become a Starfleet Academy cadet recruit. "Career Day" at the academy will test your knowledge and skills to discover what your true ranking might be as part of the crew of a starship. Will you be a Medical, Engineering or Science Officer? How about a Commander?

After a hologram orientation, you'll begin a series of simulated science, engineering, medical and command evaluations in nine different zones. As you progress through the training program, your results will be tracked with an individual wristband in order to determine your Starfleet career recommendation.

Learn to speak Klingon
Conduct a planetary survey
Guide the U.S.S. Enterprise through a maze of threats

I'll definitely be taking the kids. About to start Season 4 of Star Trek: TNG in our epic Netflix watch of the entire franchise.

That'd be cool if I had kids.

But as a grumpy adult, all I'd want to do is throw Frakes off of the bridge of my damn starship

A buddy of mine is a big Trekkie and talked me into going to the Star Trek experience at the Las Vegas Hilton when we were down there. It was actually a lot of fun, apparently it's gone now. Best part was we walked past one of these guys.

You could just hear him under his breath giving a disgusted sounding "ugh, humans" with a dirty look on his face. Cracked me right up.

Yeah the Vegas one was really well done. The Borg invasion, transporter, bridge, all the little touches ... very cool.

And afterwards you could have overpriced drinks at Quark's Bar!

Probably the only time in history where if a bar didn't overcharge, customers would complain

What's the verdict on this? Good? Weak?

As adults (allegedly), how long can one spend here? Is this a multi day experience, or is it just 3 hours tops?

It's really fun.
The props used for the challenges aren't actual Star Trek props, more like wooden knock offs, but it doesn't matter. It's a fun afternoon.

The Klingon challenge is really fun.

Is there anything in the exhibition for small children?
