If we were swapping MAF for Elliott then the Penguins should be adding since we are doing them a solid, and they can have Wideman too on top of that.

If Pittsburgh wants to give us Fleury, then I want Sheary as well.

I think it's MAF's contract term Brad likes. Two more years gives the studs on the farm time to season, with some daylight ahead as far as future #1.
Most free agent goalies will ask for term and $ when all NHL teams can bid on them.

I would hope that Treliving has better things to do than entertain the possibility of a trade for Fleury. The team has bigger concerns.

I actually like this idea. Elliott for MAF. Of coarse rest of deal dependent.

I wonder if we could send Johnson and Brouwer to the Pens for Fleury and a 2nd round pick and a 3rd round pick. I hate the Brouwer contract going forward, but the Pens might want him for their playoff run after what he did for the Blues last season. Moreover, Johnson + Brouwer would almost equal the contract of Fleury. True, Fleury's contract is an albatross, but he could potentially stabilize the position and the picks might make it worth it.

Elliot for Fleury and they eat max salary on Fleury's contract. Either that or the rest of the league stands by and watches the Pens lose Murray

Also its a probably good guarantee Moose won't be back next season, Johnson as well. Wouldn't mind having a good #1 locked up for the next few seasons until the farmhands are ready to take over.

Flames still need a two - three year solution in net. Problem with MAF is, by year two he is likely facing the very same scenario he's in right now when gillies or whoever breaks into the league. Would he waive his NMC for that?
I personally wouldn't mind locking up both Elliott and Johnson again for next season though. See how they fare when the system is in place and the core has it figured out. And if its a replication of last year where Johnson is lights out in the first half of the year and Elliott is lights out after the asg, then I'm all for it. They've been subjected to some terribly bad play in front of them.

Fleury's contract is too much for too long. Plus, he's not good.
I'd want the Pen's 1st in return for taking on that contract. Wouldn't even consider a straight swap for any of our goalies.
We shouldn't be doing any teams (a team that needs to trade him) any favours.

If I'm doing a deal like this it would have to be something like this...
To PIT - Elliot
To CGY - MAF and Daniel Sprong
If Pitt doesn't move MAF they lose Murray. They have no negotiating power IMO.

Apparently poor Brad Treliving can only concentrate on one thing at a time.

They won't lose Murray either way as Fleury will just get bought out.
It's just a matter of whether or not they want just some sort of asset for Fleury rather than paying him not to play for them.
Although a buyout will be an option one has to wonder if the Pens ownership group wants to have millions paid to a guy to play else where and if they don't to go down that route what asset would make sense for them to recover some value from Fleury and also save millions.

There is a buyout window prior to the expansion draft, Pittsburgh could always go that route. That costs them money and cap hit later on though.

To CGY - Fleury + some dust for salary cap considerations
To PIT - Elliot, Wideman (7.95M)
Pitt retains some Fleury salary
Yes. I'm serious. Otherwise walk.

Frankly if we're taking Fleury off them I want their first. That could be a horrid contract moving forward and we are under no obligation to do them any favours. At least with our tandem, they are both done at the end of the year.
