Calgary Flames @NHLFlames
now
The #Flames have signed defenceman Matt Bartkowski to a two-year, two-way contract!

^ PTO was just so he could practice while they finalized deal.

Flames now have all the players they need to fufill the expansion draft requirements.

Hmm, after following this thread pretty closely yesterday, I figured he would sign his deal until after the deadline.

Perhaps there's a trade already done or the contract signing timing is irrelevant.

Should expect Kulak assigned to Stockton.

Also, let us hope he can wash away the Chris Butler Stank off of #44 and make Jordan Leopold proud.

It's because Gio only joined Twitter earlier this season. Gio and Backlund had a funny tweet exchange at the start.

And now we begin the Bartkowski-Wideman bottom pairing era.

Mixed emotions.

Leopold wore #40, #4, and #6 over his 2 stints here.

#44s include Jonas Hoglund, Rico Fata, Rob Niedermayer, Rhett Warrener, Aaron Johnson, Stefan Meyer, and
Chris Butler.

Hmmm, could have sworn up and down until I was blue in the face that Leopold wore #44 during his 2nd stint with the club. Ah well, swap Leopold for Warrener and call t a day. Edit: wore #44 for COL and FLA. Memory must have flashed to the FLA days.

I remember being really proud of myself that I had hockey cards with him wearing all three numbers.

This feels like it might be a tree falling in the forest situation.

If you get another chance to play in the NHL, but you're going to be partnered with Dennis Wideman, are you really getting another chance at all?

It really does look like Bartkowski is going to need a partner that can cover up for his mistakes. Wideman is pretty well the exact opposite of his ideal partner.

More like Bartkowski will need to cover up for Wideman's mistakes!

#40 Jordan Leopold was one of the worst defensemen I've ever seen play for the Flames
