Sit Wideman, play Bartkowski, unleash the insane power that is known as "Right D Brodie"! That is, if Bart is in game shape.

Gio - Hamilton
Bartkowski - Brodie
Kulak - Engelland

Well maybe it was never a PTO?

The guy was good in Boston but has been a disaster since. Try-out at Senators camp then signed in the AHL with the Providence Bruins. Hopefully he can be serviceable in a 6th/7th role.

Otherwise, I don't like this. I guess it's no risk, but if he gets into games and costs the Flames, then I really won't like it.
We already have good old #6 doing that for us....

PTO might be so he can practice while the contract is being finalized.

Bartkowski mutually terminated his contract this morning with the Providence Bruins to come to Calgary. I doubt he did that unless there is a contract waiting for him.

If this is to see if we can sit wideman, fine.

If this is to send Kulak to the minors and/or have a 3 man rotation for the 6th defenseman spot, then sigh...

Flames organization was the one that confirmed PTO?

Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
Matt Bartkowski is on the ice wearing #44 this morning. Signed a PTO with the #Flames earlier today.

Well, at least Wideman isn't the worst Dman in the NHL anymore.

I'm very confident in saying that Bart is much worse than Wideman. The former just does it for a much cheaper price.

has anyone actually watched any Providence games to give an accurate appraisal of how he has been playing lately?

This is an expansion draft requirement signing. Worst case scenario he's a veteran for Stockton. Thumbs up.

It definitely is. Low risk, low reward.

Other than the inherent risk in signing players for your team that aren't very good. There is some risk in that.

I really hate this because Glen coached him in Van. There has to be much better options out there, unless he's some sort of tool in the expansion draft strategy? Doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Don't know why everyone is so worked up. This is like the McCollum signing all over again. Have our expansion eligible d. And if we move out wideman or engelland, a little bit of depth.

As long as they don't believe he's a solution for the big team I don't see any reason to panic.
