I think so, but I couldn't find the video. Upon trying I didn't stumble across this funny one:
Haha, that is hilariously terrible. I love the guys coming in on street shoes trying not to slip, and it's pretty crazy that the guys on street shoes had to come in to break it up.
Posted in the OOT that I think he should get what Wideman got which is 10 games. Result isn't as bad as Wideman but in my mind there's no question about intent here. 10 seems fair to me.
Wideman got 20 games.

I understand the sentiment Vermette probably had. Feeling like the linesman wasn't fair. Like how my wife always uses the last of the TP and doesn't change the roll. So I will certainly give her some grief about it and tell her not to be a ######, but I won't just punch her for it. That's obviously where it goes wrong. In no way was that reaction appropriate for the situation. Can't go and take your frustrations out even if they are warranted.
As everyone has said, though the outcome is less severe than Widemans incident, the intent is much less questionable. So I agree he should get a nice lengthy break.

Maybe it's just me (hard to tell from the angles showed since you don't see his face) but it looks like Vermette was trying to say something to the official and tapped him to get his attention when he was being ignored.
Not trying to excuse it, but I makes more sense to me than waiting a couple seconds and then randomly slashing the back of the refs thigh out of nowhere.

I also wondered if that was what Vermette was trying to do. Still makes it a very bad idea on Vermette's part. Seriously, what was he thinking?

That is the same excuse McSorely used.

Wideman got 20, but argued it was not intentional. That Henderson "backed into him" and he didn't see him coming. Whether or not you believe him is immaterial, but it's arguable.
Vermette clearly reached out to slash the ref. Intent was absolutely there and can't be argued.
Wideman's hit was obviously way worse physically speaking, but at the end of the day, Vermette clearly and decisively reached out to hit a ref. That's my take on it.
He should get 20.

I agree that is my take of the situation as well.
But yah no excuse. Will likely get the 10 games and accept it.
