New Prospect ranking - Hayes
Hayes has a new prospect ranking up:
http://www.flamesfrom80feet.ca/2017/...prospects.html
Pretty good list, I would probably move Fox, Kulak, Shinkaruk, and Phillips up a few spots. (maybe more than a few for Phillips)

Given how Stephan Falkovsky is tearing up the ECHL I would have easily put him in top 20.
Great size, some speed, great shot and surprising skill.

Interested in hearing more about Hickey's year. Haven't heard much and was thinking that perhaps Fox would be higher than him.

Really pulling for Gillies. Hope he can come to camp next year and take a goalie spot.

It's a good list. Glad to see guys like Jankowski and Gillies still ranked high. Usually lists tend to bias toward more recent picks.

Can we send Wideman down and bring up Anderson?

NMC for the Widedog so probably not.
As for the list itself I agree with pretty much all of it. Poirier sure has disappeared in the past couple seasons. Wouldn't be surprised if the flames move on from him after this season.

Right. Poirier is still young. Maybe give him another season to see how he develops. We could always site Wideman but we would then have to send down Kulak or Chaisson.

I'm leaning more and more towards us just being stuck with Wideman this year.
Poirier is young but we have younger guys that have already passed him in the depth chart in Stockton and are getting the top minutes. I think it would be best to try and do a reclamation trade with someone. Their bust for our bust and see what transpires.

The next time the Flames pick in the 20-30 area of the first round they should just trade the pick.

Teams like Chicago, New York, etc.. can get away with that because they can restock their prospect cupboard in other ways.
I don't think the Flames are at the point where they should be trading picks away, regardless of the draft position.

Interesting list. I can't say I disagree with the majority of it. I think this is the first year where Klimchuk has really jumped ahead of Poirier in the prospect list. Klimchuk finally seems to have shaken the injury bug and Poirier just isn't trending in the right direction.
It's pretty obvious there are no sure things on that list. I hope I'm wrong, but I'd be surprised if Jankowski became a no 2 centre in time, let alone a no 1.
There are some wildcards though. Andersson, Kylington, Gillies and Mangiapane have the highest ceilings in my opinion. Maybe the Flames will get lucky and one of them will break out into top line players.

I haven't seen a ton of Fox, but what I have seen he has a long ways to go to being an NHL player. Hickey is much closer and if I had to bet between the two which was going to turn into an everyday player or who was going to end up being a top 4 defenseman I would put my money on Hickey.
Fox has elite hockey IQ and vision, but after that his game lacks a little for me. He isn't great defensively, he almost seems disinterested in the play in his own end. From what I have watched his skating isn't as good as advertised, I don't see him being the PP QB that carries the puck up the ice. He also doesn't have a strong shot, he does get shots through, but he isn't going to blow it past many goalies.
Hickey thinks defense first but has the skating ability and the willingness to jump up in the play. He has a real good feel for when to step up and take away time and space. His skating ability is probably right up there with Brodie.

I really hope this team takes a long look at Andersson next preseason. Would be nice to graduate a defenseman and Andersson's earned it with his play this season.

I can't wait for Grey Worm to make the Flames. I'm still really excited for that kid.

Obviously you have not seen Parsons play if you think Gillies has the higher ceiling.

What are the chances Hickey is more ready than Andersson? He is older but hasn't played as high a level.
Based on Prospect camp, it sounds like Hickey has a better chance of stepping in next year than Rasmus.
