Yeah, that's been around for a long time; and no, I've not made it past 8, but it is a lot of fun.

I've played curveball a ton of times, and I can get to level 8 with all my lives left, but I just can't beat that level. I've gotten to the cpu's last ball, but just can't beat it.

That is impressive man, I have been able to get to 8 twice and with only a single life...my friend claims to have made it to level 9 but Iam not sure if that is humanly possible! lol

Dicewars for sure.
Try this one from them as well:
http://www.gamedesign.jp/flash/crossword/crossword.html
Stupid hardest level took me long enough that I printed it and put it on my wall at work.
EDIT: Hm, they maybe changed it, before the hardest level had no hints at all!
EDIT2: They did change it! Bah! Before it had an open crossword with no letter hints, and all 26 letters to work with. They made it easier

I love Tontie, it's like whack-a-mole on your computer, with a bunch of crazy stuff thrown in.

The first levels are quite easy, but they get difficult fast. Instructions are all in dutch (I think), but you just use your numpad.

It's a bunch of small games in one. Pretty fun once you find out what you do for each of the minigames.
