It's very clear that Wideman is not just "out of place"; he's hurting this team. If we're serious about making playoffs, he needs to be put on bottom pairing, at least. Even "40 year old Matt Cullen" walked around him tonight.

And you are also correct about the top line RW. Neither Chiasson nor Brouwer is the answer--and I'm satisfied with their overall play this season. But neither is a top-line winger.
Wideman beat by a 40 year old! Yes I saw that and shook my head. Been a supporter of Wideman for years. Awful pass led to a Pens goal. Seems like every game wideman does something that screws the team over.

Guy cant skate anymore, and he is not that old. Solution? I don't really have one. Trade him? For what? We would be lucky to get a David Jones return if we retained 50 percent. Right now is depth, not good depth.

Johnson soft first goal. After that though thought we was quite good. Game should of been won in regulation time. Not the best game of the season forsure.

Never the less the effort was there and they were playing a very good team. A win is a win and the single point we gave to the opposition does not hurt us.

Ferland with a solid game but only 10 minutes. Hard to give him more when the top 6 are deservedly making chances happen all night.
It was probably Backlund v. Crosby. For all Backlund's strengths, he's not great at faceoffs. Monahan and Stajan are better.

Great win

Flames control their own destiny...even if they aren't in a spot next week they play LA multiple times

Cut his minutes and give them to anyone else.
You can't have the same guy looking up at a replay to see his mistakes nearly every game.

Looked deeper and that wasn't the case exactly tonight. Backlund held his own night going 10/16 overall and 4/8 vs Crosby.

Crosby was near perfect against everybody else. (2/2 against Monahan, 4/4 with Bennett, 3/5 against Stajan) He ended the night with a 75% FO win.
Spoiler!

Spoiler!

Huge win from the boys. The game was pretty intense near the end when they tied it up. But Johnson was able to shut the door. Too bad we couldn't win on the PP in OT, but Johnson was money in the shootout. Great game from him.

The Pens broadcast was pretty entertaining. Had some homer bits (no more then Hrudey) , but they paid respect to the Flames and in particular Brodie. I really liked their style. And the broadcast quality was topnotch. Great replays, great picture and some awesome stats. Puts the SN broadcast to shame.

Murray's helmet was unbuckled by the shot - you want him to get into a scramble and risk it coming off accidentally?

Smart play especially considering the short-handed situation, and every goalie in the league would do that in the same situation.

potentially facing a shot without a helmet on seems just as risky...yeah every goalie would do it because of the current rule, I never said it wasn't "smart" by him. Some goalies masks however come off pretty easy and often.

Yes. They need a winger that will make space. Like a 26 year old Tkachuk.

Just finished, that was awesome! That's five good to great efforts in a row. Despite some iffy goals, Johnson was the game-saver

Ferland stripping Crosby of the puck and scoring on the breakaway was a highlight of the season for me

The Chad was unreal tonight. The saves he made especially against Crosby might be his best game of the year.

Feels real good to finish the road trip with a win against the Pens.

Nice win before the break and a solid 4 points on the trip. All I was hoping for and hopefully they build off of it and come out just as strong after the break.

What a fun game to watch. Pens are a fast team and the flames kept up for the most part. Still too many turnovers though which resulted in the goals and some other chances for the Pens. Fantastic game by Johnson. Played really well despite probably wanting the 1st goal back. Had Crosby's number all night. Liked Brodie again tonight. Seems to be coming around if they could only get him away from Wideman now.

Nice week off for the boys and hopefully they rest up and get ready for the playoff run.

In the ATL report when that dummy said McDavid is better than Crosby, he must be misinformed. Maybe you should start a misinformed report aso Gaskal.
