Trump can and will continue to denigrate the credibility of anyone who says anything bad about him while fawning over those who praise him, regardless of what happens with Bannon. Bannon's credibility with Breitbart specifically just doesn't seem like much of a threat at all, to me. If Trump disavowed him and Breitbart, it's more likely that whatever group of people he's counting on would abandon Bannon and Breitbart rather than him.

Which indicators of having even above average intelligence does Donald Trump display? Is it his high functioning language skills? Is it his interest in the arts? Is it his ability to show both empathy and humility? How about his leadership amongst peers? How about his academic interests and performance?

If Trump has a gift, it is emotional intelligence. But given his narcissism I doubt he excels there either. What he has managed to do is be born into money and surround himself with high performers, then learning to mimic their behaviors.

The last two would certainly indicate intelligence, particularly since he has leveraged those abilities and people to become POTUS.

Trump is picking up right where Kelly Anne Conway left off, claiming that the press is not reporting terrorist attacks.

Seriously, what is their goal here? Does he think CIA officers and military troops will just believe him?

“It’s gotten to a point where it’s not even being reported. And in many cases the very, very dishonest press doesn’t want to report it. They have their reasons, and you understand that,” he said. He offered no evidence for the accusation, which flies in the face of round-the-clock news coverage of terrorist violence. But one of his senior advisers has repeatedly referred to a Bowling Green, Ky., terrorist attack that did not happen.

He truly does live in an alternate universe, one that is different from reality.

It makes more sense if you pretend he is a 12 year old, then he kind of makes sense.

You might be right, but that is the risk, you simply don't know how things will break as reliably as you used to, polling being an example now of how that unreliable break can hurt or hinder someone it isn't designed to.

If Trump doesn't appear as sufficiently reliable for the excessively conservative voter they will adopt a new messiah.

I don't think there is any loyalty to Bannon in this instance, it will be loyalty to whoever co-opts the cooptable. That could be any number of previously unidentified rogues.

Hardly. The last two require little intelligence. Anyone can hire someone smarter than themselves. Anyone can learn to become a mimic, especially if it leads to reward. I mean, a parrot can learn to mimic sounds and words, that doesn't make it smart.

He's a shill, no more than that, he was just lucky enough to be shilling at a particular point in history when the media has been almost replaced by social media, Palin pointed the way, its 'reality politics' not only does it not really require much intelligence in fact I would say the opposite is true, we are entering an era of stupidity, or at least being average and unsophisticated as an advantage.

My theory is that Trump and his team were living in a parallel universe and have been transported to ours without realizing it. That explains their shock at the media not reporting major events like the Bowling Green massacre and other terrorist attacks and Trump's excellent approval ratings.

Sean Spicer is still a goof in both universes though.

So Sandy Hook never happened and the media made it up, while the media is also hiding terrorist activities that allegedly did happen?

That's a bit like what the players were telling us and each other during the lockout. "We're the game, not the owners". Except what the fans care about is the team and the logo - and that's the owners. In this case, hard Republicans care about Trump because he represents their team. But if the party (Brietbart, Fox News, et al) turn on Trump, most of that loyalty will move to Trump's replacement. It won't stick around with him.

OK, I will admit that you're right if you can provide at least 2 examples from his tweets or speeches (etc) where he explicitly or even strongly implies that he is smarter than Bannon.

The claim you made was that he's vain about being smarter than Bannon.

Shouldn't be too hard to come up with 2, since there are 50 or 60 to choose from.

Nevermind leaders of the province or country. None of us would like it if our boss acted like this, much less the POTUS.

Isn't it in the top 15 in most read news sites?

I was surprised too.

uh...

So unless he has reconsidered his position from 2007, then he must logically only have hired people dumber than himself ,which would included Bannon.
