Their (owners) way of renovating the hotel is doing 2 or 3 floors at a time, and its been going on since 2001. Its a way to appease the management (Delta Hotels) and it's guests, without dropping to much cash. Until the ownership changes, that hotel will be a second class hotel in this city.

I haven't stayed at the palliser but my wife is an absolute nut with the fairmont hotel chain. If you like the history of the old CP hotels then it is an experience. The rooms may be smaller but it still is quite an experience. I had a chance to get a little tour through there and it is interesting and it seems a little better then the hotel Macdonald in Edmonton.

Just an update - I met with Radulov, they were staying in Sheraton as you guys told me. I drove him around DT Calgary. He liked Calgary a lot as well as he said he likes Western Canada the most in North America, would have loved to play here all the time.
Now, does anyone know where Washington is staying? They are having a day off today and I assume they are in Calgary!

If close to the Dome is what you want, check out the Hotel Arts, a boutique hotel that opened up in the last year or so. It's on 12th Ave and 1st SW, while Stampede LRT is on 1st SE and 17th Ave. An easy walk of about 5 blocks or so, about 7 minutes or so. The area is a little sketch, but they've really tried to take this hotel up market.

The Hotel Arts seems like a really nice hotel, I have a friend that got put up there by PwC and she took pictures of her room. Its really nice and modern looking, and her room had a nice TV to boot.

Don't let the outside of the building or the nearby surroundings fool you ... Hotel Arts is very nice ... not quite LeGermain nice, but a very good contempory hotel ... especially for Cgy.

Ive got an NHL media guide at my desk at work. It shows all the hotels that each team stays at when they are in a certain city. Sheraton Eau Claire is defnitely one that lots of teams stay at and even when I was in Calgary last year for the home opener, I saw Modano and Guerin in the lobby at the Eau Claire and saw Georges LAraque 2 days after as the Oil were in town.
I dont really wanna post the whole list of the hotels of choice for each team, but if someone needs to know, I am a PM away. Just dont want everyone phoning the hotel and tryin to prank call the opposing players.

Thanks for pointing me to this hotel, I think it's exactly what I'm looking for. I don't mind a little bit of a sketchy neighborhood, and was hoping to find a hotel that wasn't a big chain establishment. Anyone know if the bar is any good?
