It also doesn't seem like something that suits the United States other than maybe the south becoming it's own country. But the divide in the US seems more rural/urban than anything, but that would be quite difficult to part out into smaller countries and would likely come with large scale bloodshed, no?

Examples would be India, Soviet Union, Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia, and to a certain extent Brexit, which could lead to a breakup of Great Britain.

After the impending US Civil War, citizens will just live in giant mega cities. One on the east coast named Mega City One, one on the west coast named Mega City Two and then bands of muties roaming the Cursed Earth in between.

I would hope Hawaii and Nevada can be a part of the package. If we took the three previously mentioned states the US gov't would make it difficult for Canadians to visit American borders and Hawaii and Las Vegas are both big places to visit.

He said "the future is trending towards", that's what kind of jumped out at me as I hadn't heard or read anything to that effect. In terms of countries of various sizes fighting and breaking apart, that's been happening since the beginning of time, it's literally what creates everything we see before us.
I guess he just made it sound more like it was a responsible, planned initiative by big countries, current day, lol.

That is the trend since WWII, and all the countries that broke up were to a certain extent a "planned initiative". There is no reason why this should change in the future. These examples are recent by any definition of human history.
Scotland has said that it will quit Britain as a result of Brexit, that signals that this trend of smaller nation states should continue. Iraq could be another one that splits apart in the coming years.

Canada has 35 million people. California, Oregon and Washinton have a population of 50 million. I agree with those saying Canada would be joining them not the other way around.

I don't see the advantage for the US states though as outside of our western oil and manufacturing sector in the east we don't have a lot to offer them as not many Americans would migrate up north and if anything you would see a mass exodus of Canadians south which would not be great for Canadian economies and California is already overpopulated.

They can keep California. Don't want that bunch of self-loving, dirty oil, earthquake liability hippies.
And the US would militarily intervene so as not to lose tide water. Heck, San Diego is home to the Pacific Fleet.

It's this kind of talk that will have Trump building a wall at the Canadian border if we're not careful. And we'll have to pay for it.

I'm not defending the silliness of this proposition, but wasn't it completely based around liberal Americans who can't handle being associated with their country socially, anymore?

Good point. The US already took California from Mexico, no chance they let Canada take it from them.
