Thanks, LOL. The date format on computers gets me all the time, 02-01 or 01-02.

The Capitals took a 2-0 lead with Backstrom getting a goal and an assist. The slew footer Marchand scores a nice goal on the power play late in the period, 2-1 Capitals after twenty minutes.

The Avs were basically a no show as it was 3-0 Kings after 1 period. The Avs goalie was by far their best player as he faced 40 shots. Jeff Carter with 2 goals, Dustin Brown with 2 points and Budaj gets the 22 save SHUTOUT against his former team. Iggy scored but it was disallowed due to goalie interference.

The Capitals showed that they are a first place team with 5 different goal scorers and great goaltending. They sure woke up after Tuesday's loss. Backstrom and Marchand each had 3 points.

Colorado has really turned into a Tire Fire of epic proportions. If I'm not mistaken they are 4-24-2 in their last 30 games. Two of those 4 wins have been in overtime as well. That's worse than being an expansion team.

With the NHL the way it currently is, this really is an historically bad stretch of hockey. It's mind blowing that only 3 years ago this team had like 110 points and made the playoffs. Right now they might not get to 40 points with the way they are playing.

If they keep this up...they'll be moving to New Jersey again.
