So some corrections

-He's a UFA
-Born in Edmonton
-Played with the Las Vegas Wranglers to start his professional career while a prospect in the Flames system
-Liked Vegas so much he now calls it home

So yeah, if the Golden Knights are interested he'll sign there I'd imagine.

Engelland was born in Edmonton, am I missing a joke here?

4. The Flames will go with a 14f, 7d, 2g roster for most of next season

The Flames will only have $22.4 million to fill 4 d-men, 5 forwards, and 2 goalie spots.

RFAs: Bennett, Ferland, Chiasson, Hathaway, Jokipakka, Kulak
UFAs: Elliott, Johnson, Wideman, Engelland, Versteeg

So yeah if you bring Alzner in, the Flames will probably have about $15 to $17 million for 3 d-men, 5 forwards and 2 goalies.
Flames at the very least will have one contract removed, this is from the expansion draft. I would guess most likely a forward.

I don't think so... Engelland lives in Vegas thou so it's probably just confusing "born" and "from".

If I recall correctly, he has no contract for next year, so cannot be protected in any event.

And he was born in Edmonton.

Edit: What they said...

While true, there is no guarantee the player they choose is from the NHL roster.

For example, they could choose to take Shinkaruk or Poirier.

I really can't see Engelland being in Vegas based on how many D-man Vegas is likely to draft. Engelland would be their #8 and would probably prefer being a #6 regular in a line-up.

If Sureloss hasn't gotten to it yet, it sounds like Iggy has officially asked the Colorado Avalanche to be traded by March 1st.

Strange that he would have to ask if thats indeed the case. On an expiring deal and likely in the last year he will play why wouldn't they want or try to move him?

TSN reporting he hasn't even talked to Sakic about it, but it was in an interview given to Yahoo! Sports.

I'd imagine the team they draft will be very different from the team they ice in October. The drafting is just a start. Lots of players could be flipped in the off season.

But yeah, that doesn't mean Engellend is destined to play there just because he lives there.

Engelland may be a menace around the house, thinking he's some kind of handyman but wrecking everything. His wife may want him as far away from home as possible during the season.

Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun
Cal O'Reilly (Buffalo) among those put on waivers today. Hearing that Sabres are on the lookout around the league for a 4th-line center

Matt Stajan, veteran presence.

There are cheaper, younger, and better 4th line centers out there. Stajan has no chance.

It never said they were looking for a good one.

I guess I'd have to ask for an example here.

Sure, Stajan is an expensive 4th line centre at 3.125M...but I wonder who you believe is outright better than Stajan.
