Some Brian Elliott Optimism
Brian Elliott Last season was pretty poor before the New Year
EDIT: Accidentally left the zero column in there. The Actual SV % would be 0.917.
Brian Elliott was an Elite Goalie after Jan 1.
He seems to have found his game. I for one am Optimistic.

More Optimism from Darren Haynes Twitter
"In his last four starts, #Flames goalie Brian Elliott is 2-1-1 with a 1.93 GAA and .928 SV%. Small sample size but something to build off."

Have to start somewhere. If he has a good 2nd half of the season I wonder if the Flames consider bringing him back? It felt for a while like it was a foregone conclusion that he would be one and done with the Flames.

7 3 and 1 since December 1st. 2.21 GAA and .910%
Not bad numbers since the start of December. Only 10 starts tho

I thought he looked fantastic last night against the Wild; keep rolling with him GG

The thing I notice about Elliott is that he always seems to look "nervous" - he jumps and tenses quite a bit. Maybe just his style, but it looks odd when also watching goalies (like Miikka or even the Chad) who seem so much more relaxed in their net.
But, at the end of the day, results are what counts and his game against the Wild was excellent. He was pretty pissed at the goal though.

I've like him for a while. He lost a few games but played well.
The Vancouver game was just a fluke.

Had a great game tracking the puck last night. Some confidence goes a long way, hopefully he's getting in his zone now.

"Win and you're in" seems to be working at the moment. I'm wondering if Elliott is going to be to tired to play in the playoffs after his 31 consecutive games.

He seems to be tracking and catching the puck better right now. Hopefully it continues as we will need him to be a .920 goaltender down the stretch if we want make it to the playoffs.

someone cross-posted the chart to CFHF and some analysis was made. it seems like the math done here was pretty sketchy.
According to Corsica, Elliott had a 0.917 in 14 games of the 2015 part of the 2015/16 season.
In the 2016 part of the 2015/16 season he had a 0.935 in 28 games.
So he definitely got better but not to the degree indicated by the table shown.

My Math probably is off. I just remember Elliot being a big disappointment at the start of the last season, but that he turned it on as the year went on.

So, is Elliott the new Johnson or is Johnson the new Elliott?

He's looked much better.
Do you think he's worth signing to an extension while his stock is still quite low? It's a bit of a roll-of-the-dice, but if we could get him locked in below market value it could help us squeeze more value into the rest of the roster...

I personally don't think so. If you look at his entire body of work so far, his performance has not been anywhere close to warrant an extension. There will be an influx of goaltenders on the market this summer and I would hope they look for an upgrade there. Who knows, maybe Gillies or Ridditch will be ready for the big league next season. The season isn't over yet and maybe one of Elliott or Johnson will go on a run and prove to be the answer. Only time will tell at this point.
