That was really an amazing performance by the Flames. Top to bottom everyone was great. I
That top corner shot was classic Monahan, he has an awesome shot.
Johnny looked pretty dangerous, I would like to see him drive the net even more rather than stopping up at the hash marks but he was pretty dangerous all night.
Anyone interested in seeing a Brodie-Kulak pairing? Brodie can go back to playing on the right side and Engelland-Jokipakka can continue to play on the bottom pair. Kulak has shown me enough to replace Wideman and his constant turnovers and defensive mistakes. Wideman can take some power skating courses with his new found time off.

I'm amazed at how good this team can look when I've seen them play so poorly. They are sooo much better playing with a lead -- got a lucky bounce tonight to make it 1-0 and they built from there. Was really impressed with how they not only shut down the Wild but were able to push back in transition. Suck on that Boudreau. Eat it Staal.
Three things that made me happy:
1. Monahan getting his mojo back -- he's heating up.
2. Elliott was terrific tonight. Very good sign.
3. They care again. Tkachuk got high sticked, and I think it was Brouwer that stood up for him after the whistle. Again in the third period -- I can't remember who it was but the same thing happened. They're not going to be pushed around anymore -- and if they try there will be consequences.

That was entertaining hockey, and not just because we won. The Wild games aren't the snooze fest they used to be.
No doubt the Wild are a very good team. Despite the second night of a back to back they were full value in the early going.
Great performance by the Flames to get the win.
eah, family is all asleep and I've got whisky in the glass...
Doubt I can make it through the whole game though. 5 am comes quick after these pacific time zone games.

Ugh, brutal hit on Staal

That looked rough

hes gotta keep his head up, lucky staal didn't get killed

Can't wait to see Stewie give Tkachuk a lil' somethin for shoving Staal head first into the boards
Quote:
Forgot how slimy Tkachuk is. I wanna see Stewie or Koivu lay him out.
Quote:
Good hit, but Tkachuck is the kind of player who'll end someones career at some point, he just does not seem to give a ****.

Someone needs to put Upchuck Jr. into the boards. Nothing dirty...just a good toss. Like father, like son.

I don’t remember Keith Tkachuk being this much of an #######. Why in the hell is his kid such a big one on the ice?

Ouch, Staal got launched into the boards there.

Tkachuck already trying to run our top scorers I see

Ouch, Staal ok?

That was just a matter of time. Calgarians have been perky so far.

Lucky goal. Credit to the flames for throwing that at the net

Flood gates are opening! At least we got ourselves in good position by winning all those games

Now I'll be quite surprised if they come back from here.
I want to be surprised though.

What a flop..

As crappy as the refs may be, the Wild just don't have it tonight. Out of sync....A little careless....They just aren't connecting. If it ends in a loss, it was truly a group effort.
Good thing we beat the Oilers.

Wild are done. We were due for a loss I guess. Oh well, can't win them all.

I think the Wild just want out of the arena and onto the plane to BC.

The flames are our kryptonite like WTF

Calgary might have the Wild’s number, but there’s so much uncalled BS going on that the Wild, who are usually able to fight through that ####, are just getting frustrated
Quote:
While this game has been aweful
I hope its a little bit of a reality check for the Wild. Two games where they have allowed 40 SOGs thats crazy. Need to do a better job of possessing the puck. This has been a drubbing and good on the Flames.
Quote:
Calgary is a crap team , you guys are way better than this. If you hit Gaudreau he disappears.

2-0 Flames.
Of course the Wild come out flat vs them
Quote:
Minnesota looks bloody awful tonight. Are we sure this is the same team we just played?
Quote:
Go figure the Wild play like ass against the flames and the Avs give freebies to our division rivals too.
Quote:
We always get the team that plays their game of the year while they lay down for the Flames.
Quote:
So honestly after hearing the presser from the GM
He pretty much called out the entire team. Calling them Independent contractors. How well is that going to be received? Is he in the hot seat as well? Do you think your season is salvageable and should you be sellers at the TDL?
Quote:
After seeing what happened during the offseason
I figured we’d be lucky to make the playoffs. We replaced Backes, Brouwer, and Elliot with Perron, Yakupov, and Hutton, and no new deal or trade regarding Shattenkirk. You add hiring Yeo as a coach-in-waiting and it just seemed to be a disaster in the waiting. I don’t think anyone, including the players, knows what to think. Probably Army should be the one facing the music, but you know how it goes — coach is first in line for a short haircut.
Quote:
Was never able to claim the job from Elliott
so we sent our 2016 playoff MVP to Calgary for a third-rounder and anointed Allen the chosen one. I still don’t understand why we didn’t ride that tandem one more year. Oh well…

"The third and final period...was a decidedly fun experience for Flames fans young and old. And it all started...when Zach Parise of Minnesota was sent off for hooking."
Pretty much
Nicely done!

Was at the game so a little hard to tell without all the replays and stuff but did anyone else think Wideman/Brodie really struggled? Thought the entire team was excellent aside from those two.
Something needs to be done about that pairing. Preferably get someone who can let Brodie play the side he likes and Wideman to the third pairing or preferably off the team.
Haha wow SN is just awful. When I was at the game after the missed high stick on Tkachuk the crowd went nuts with deafening boos and in my head I'm like I wonder how that sounded on T.V and thankfully I recorded it and just listened to it and you barely heard boos. Why does SN always let us listen to players throwing out f-bombs on the ice but drown out the crowd noise?
Seriously such a sub par broadcast.

Calgaryblood, Wideman had a good game tonight with one or two mistakes. Had a pass or two that led to a goal. I think he had an assist and a couple shots on net. Brodie had a stellar game, but caught on the wrong side making it a 2 on none for the only goal.

Why are you complaining?
It's the PGT and I'm talking about the game. I thought Wideman was the worst Flame tonight followed by Brodie. Not complaining just an observation, notice how I said the rest of the team was excellent?
Brodie I agree played the 2 on 1 terribly but only reason it was a 2 on 1 was because of Wideman. And Wideman got real lucky at least 3 times because the Wild forgot how to pass because there were a few times they were behind him in our zone and the neutral zone and he was oblivious to it.
Brodie IMO didn't have a stellar game, he couldn't make a pass or receive a pass and had a few turnovers as well. Him and Wideman just look so awkward together especially exiting the zone. Something needs to be done about that pairing.
