I think some of you will realize how bad Wideman is next season when he isn't in the NHL

No one has wanted Wideman in years and even if they did, there's no guarantee he'd even go there.

He might as well be a pair of concrete shoes.

An easy example is Elliott. He's played great tonight. But if he lets in a saveable goal (not even a softy), watch what happens here.
It's no secret I despise Wideman as a hockey player but I will fully acknowledge when he makes a good play or has a good game. The thing is though, those things are so few and far between this year it may seem like I never say that stuff.

And nobody was arguing that Wideman wasn't also to blame, it's was just people stating that he wasn't the only one at fault and Brodie played it badly too, then a poster called that mindset "clueless".

I'm not sure if it's because they were both late round picks that really panned out but I feel like Brodie and Gaudreau both get a pass a lot of the time for their poor play on Calgarypuck.

Sure they haven't had the best line mates this year but it's not always just Chiasson, Wideman, or Guletzan's fault when they make poor plays.

Wideman was a few yards behind on that goal like he finds himself numerous times every game. Brodie has been fighting the puck all night. It's as though he is using a new stick flex this year.

Can anyone explain the review on the goalie interference no goal call? Did the wild challenge? There was no announcement at the dome, and the regs weren't looking at the tablets, only talking on the headphones. If the league stopped play for that long over that obvious call it is complete bs.

I predict Wideman will linger on in the league on 1 year contracts for a fairly long period. He'll become the new Adrian Aucoin.

He'll come cheap and play 3rd pairing plus 2nd pp. His referee problem is a wildcard.

Since when is a two on one a "no win situation"? And isn't almost every two one one caused by a blown play by the other defenceman (or covering forward)?

Why can't you admit Brodie could have played it better. Getting beaten by a head fake means you were fooled. It's possible to not be fooled, otherwise it would work every time.

Brodie has been brutal this year other than a handful of games. There I said it.

However, Brodie is still miles ahead of our boy Dennis Wideman. You will rarely see Brodie hit a guy in the shin pads (because he rarely shoots) or fumble the puck at the blue line and then fall on his ass leading to a 2 on 1 the other way.

I would love to see AC make a video of Wideman blunders. It would turn into a full length motion picture.

I'm done now. I've calmed down. Here's hoping for a solid third period and a big two points. Go Flames!

Yeah it wasn't like Granlund made some amazing deke.

He went forehand to backhand and just pulled it around Brodie, and Brodie looked like he was caught flat footed.

A 2v1 is not a no win situation. Learn the game. 25percent of 2v1s turn into goals. 90 percent of 2v0s turn into goals.

I am not defending Wideman. I said in my original post that Yes...Wideman STUMBLED and created the 2v1.

That said, Brodie does not take the pass or shot...instead turning it into a 2v0 and gave Elliott very little to no chance.

I never said that he couldn't have played it better.

I am saying that people on here love to criticize defensemen on every play. Sometimes the forward makes a great play.

Did Brodie make an awesome play and save the day? No.

Was that goal Brodie's fault? No

Was expecting him to go down and take the pass away. Didn't seem like he expected the Wild player to blow by him.

Hanurayan looked tentative doing interviews... Intersted in how he does play by play (in English)? #bonino

I am so confused by sportsnet sometimes...

Last night the oilers lose 5 -2 and if you listened to the broadcast it sounded like the oilers were the dominant team.

Tonight the flames are up 2 - 1 on the same team and all they can talk about is Granlund. No one cares.

That's twice you've said that. It's a moronic comment and doesn't help your credibility.

As a defenseman and a coach, I think I know the game. And unlike you apparently, I can have a discussion without resorting to suggest others should learn the game.
I'm done with you.

Just who will be surprised? When is the last time someone on here had something good to say about him?
