Not sure Spicer knows Frederick Douglass' contributions are pretty much done, being dead and all.
Neither of them have a clue. It's even more obvious with Spicer.
In my day, if I was going to give a speech that millions of people were going to hear, I'd go to Wikipedia for two minutes to make sure at the very least I'd know if the people I was talking about were alive or dead. Ideally I'd get a little more out of it in those two minutes.
Too much to ask I guess. I still can't tell if they don't care if they look like morons. They do it over and over.

His call with the Australian PM apparently went well too. Do you think President Bannon writes the scripts to these, or he just lets Donnie act as he does?
Quote:
It should have been one of the most congenial calls for the new commander in chief — a conversation with the leader of Australia, one of America’s staunchest allies, at the end of a triumphant week.
Instead, President Trump blasted Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull over a refugee agreement and boasted about the magnitude of his electoral college win, according to senior U.S. officials briefed on the Saturday exchange. Then, 25 minutes into what was expected to be an hour-long call, Trump abruptly ended it.
At one point Trump informed Turnbull that he had spoken with four other world leaders that day — including Russian President Vladimir Putin — and that, “This was the worst call by far.”
Quote:
“This is the worst deal ever,” Trump fumed as Turnbull attempted to confirm that the United States would honor its pledge to take in 1,250 refugees from an Australian detention center. Trump, who one day earlier had signed an executive order temporarily barring the admissions of refugees, complained that he was “going to get killed” politically and accused Australia of seeking to export the “next Boston bombers.”
U.S. officials said that Trump has behaved similarly in conversations with leaders of other countries, including Mexico. But his treatment of Turnbull was particularly striking because of the tight bond between the United States and Australia — countries that share intelligence, support one another diplomatically and have fought together in wars including in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Their head clown, Trump, has set the bar very very high for stupidity.
The Trump administration wants to revamp and rename a U.S. government program designed to counter all violent ideologies so that it focuses solely on Islamist extremism, five people briefed on the matter told Reuters.
The program, "Countering Violent Extremism," or CVE, would be changed to "Countering Islamic Extremism" or "Countering Radical Islamic Extremism," the sources said, and would no longer target groups such as white supremacists who have also carried out bombings and shootings in the United States.
Such a change would reflect Trump's election campaign rhetoric and criticism of former President Barack Obama for being weak in the fight against Islamic State and for refusing to use the phrase "radical Islam" in describing it. Islamic State has claimed responsibility for attacks on civilians in several countries.
The CVE program aims to deter groups or potential lone attackers through community partnerships and educational programs or counter-messaging campaigns in cooperation with companies such as Google (GOOGL.O) and Facebook (FB.O).
Some proponents of the program fear that rebranding it could make it more difficult for the government to work with Muslims already hesitant to trust the new administration, particularly after Trump issued an executive order last Friday temporarily blocking travel to the United States from seven predominantly Muslim countries.

Ok, one question, they did not attribute the quote. How did they know how the call went and what was discussed? There were only three people in the office who appear to be Trump loyalists and the Australians declined to comment.
I mean its not so far fetched but i have now seen a couple of these unattributed.
Jeez, if this was the religious freedom bill that was rumoured to be coming but didn't, hopefully they decided against it due to the contents.
A leaked copy of a draft executive order titled “Establishing a Government-Wide Initiative to Respect Religious Freedom,” obtained by The Investigative Fund and The Nation, reveals sweeping plans by the Trump administration to legalize discrimination.
The four-page draft order, a copy of which is currently circulating among federal staff and advocacy organizations, construes religious organizations so broadly that it covers “any organization, including closely held for-profit corporations,” and protects “religious freedom” in every walk of life: “when providing social services, education, or healthcare; earning a living, seeking a job, or employing others; receiving government grants or contracts; or otherwise participating in the marketplace, the public square, or interfacing with Federal, State or local governments.”
The draft order seeks to create wholesale exemptions for people and organizations who claim religious or moral objections to same-sex marriage, premarital sex, abortion, and trans identity, and it seeks to curtail women’s access to contraception and abortion through the Affordable Care Act.

I was just reading this in the local news before I checked out this thread. I thought Trump would love the Aussies since our refugee policy is to indefinitely lock them up in a Pacific island prison.
The deal was for these refugees, who arrived by boat and were told they would never set foot in Australia, to be swapped for I believe Guatemalan refugees. It's funny the deal is dead because it is one of the few things our spineless do nothing PM has accomplished.

I love the campus Republicans going off about how this is a protest against free speech. It's a protest against hate speech. As silly as I think the protest is, these kids wouldn't be showing up to protest your run of the mill conservative. Milo turned himself into a symbol of hate and harassment, and that symbol is what's being protested.
