They (Derek Wills) are just talking on 960 that he thought the reason Brouwer was brought in was to play on lines with the young guys like Monahan, Gaudreau, and Bennett yet he's spent most of the season playing with Versteeg.

The main things that most of us have been waiting for to happen this season, but haven't are:
-Elliott going on a real hot streak and solidifying himself as the #1G
-Monahan playing like he used to
-Gaudreau back to being an elite offensive threat
-Brodie back to playing like a top 15 D
Usually teams look at their seasons as before and after the all star break. Now is the time for things to come together if the team hopes to make a run. Tonight will be a good test.

Man we need this one. I'm in the lower bowl tonight too.
It's the number 1 team in the west on a winning streak, so hopefully birthday luck can carry us to the victory. It's been pretty good so far during the rebuild.
Just to give a bit of a historical perspective:
Feb 1, 2014: Flames 4, Wild 3 (OT)
Feb 2, 2015: Flames 5, Jets 2
Feb 1, 2016: Flames 4, Hurricanes 1
Feb 1, 2017: ???

This has all the makings of a disaster. Hopefully the Flames aren't too rusty out of the gate after all that time off. They need a good start in this one, or it could go downhill fast.

I would've liked to keep Frolik on the top line for a little as he is just better than Brouwer in every category. I see this game going with the Flames struggling to score in the first, Gully mixes up all the lines (which hasn't worked this season) and the Flames lose 5-2. Would like to see more creative lineups then just alternating bottom line wingers on to the first line. There are very intriguing lines that could spark this team but Gully has not shown the wherewithal to try. Frolik should've stayed. Hopefully Bennett and Gaudreau can have good games.

Actually I like it because we have to get Brouwer going if this team is going to make a run at the playoffs. He has been absolutely invisible so far, hopefully this sparks him to get going.

So glad the Tkachuk-Backlund-Frolik line is back together.
The one bright spot in an otherwise frustrating season thus far.
Hopefully Brouwer clicks with Johnny and Moneyhands because we obviously need another line that can generate offensive pressure on a regular basis.
