Seriously, as I just said, that article is terrifying. However, it is merely plausible (which is what's terrifying) and not by any means a certain description of events. It reads like a conspiracy theory with the caveat that it's not totally crazy to suggest the conspiracy might be happening.

That being said, reactions like your post are totally counterproductive. If you can't keep a level head, if that guy's writing frightens you to the point that anyone who's so much as playing devil's advocate on any issue becomes the enemy, you might be better off not reading it at all.

tl;dr: calm the #### down.
The enemy? I said I'd have questions.

calm the #### down yourself.

EDIT: and did you read the previous article? Which actually outlines things that have already been done? Not 'conspiracy theory' stuff?

Thanks Mr. Chamberlain. Is it alright if I call you Neville? Don't want to learn from lessons past and keep vigilant in the protection of democracy from those who have no use for it. Better to keep a level head and appease those who would take us out back and put a bullet in our heads.

Yeah, no, "I have questions about you" sends a pretty strong message. Echoes of the HUAC.

If there's any question about whether I'm entirely opposed to the actions of this administration at this point, by the way, you haven't been reading my posts.

Unless I mean "I have questions to ask you" not "questions about you"

As I said, calm down.

My only thought on the whole proceedings on the weekend is 'amateur hour.'

While I believe that there are a bunch of morons within the Trump administration who actually are racist pigs who want to deport and ban all Muslims, I also think they and Trump himself were actually dumb enough to think they could pull it off with the almighty executive order, and are not actually smart enough to know how to pull their garbage off politically.

They also seem to not understand how the judicial branch works.

Your point is a good one, and I think it raises a big issue: we've been discrediting his intelligence for too long, that I think we are fixated on his in-competence.

Honestly.

We need to stop giving a crap about his distractions (twitter being #1), and start focusing on what his actions are. It's a bunch of "look at how ridiculous my left hand is" while with his right hand he is purging the State Department and trying to muzzle the press.

The issue isn't Trump. He's completely predictable (in his unpredictable way). His ego rules at all times.

What we need to be concerned about is who has the real power behind the scenes and is pulling Trump's strings, and, what checks and balances are in place that can put a stop to the nonsense.

Fixed your post.

I honestly believe these guys don't care how government works. Steve Bannon admits to wanting to burn the whole thing down to the ground. Trump only cares about getting his name in the paper. The rest of the clowns are in the car just because of the power and paycheck. They don't care how government works and they will do everything in their power to forward their agenda and ignore the machinations of government as needed.

Which one? I read the "what's the worst that can happen" post, with the cute animals. That one was pretty heavily biased in its reasoning, though I agreed with some of the "stuff that could happen going forward" portion of it, unfortunately.

That being said, I'm aware of the stuff that's already been done, and my view of it is that it's uniformly awful. The prospect of court orders being ignored is probably the most dangerous part, and it's a harbringer of more chaos to come and potentially violence. If I've missed something, I... almost said I'd be happy to be informed, but I'm more likely to be depressed. That doesn't change the fact that I want to hear from the people who are somehow defending any of these actions, or even those adding more colour to the decision process, or really any detail. I want to know that I'm actually right to be as appalled as I intuitively am by this stuff.

That said, at some point Peter's right, we're all going to have to take a break or start drinking heavily.

Like that piece said this seems to be the goal. Keep the Tyson zone stuff firing on all cylinders, create a sense of fatigue with outrage. Combined with those who would play devil's advocate or insist there must be a middle ground to every viewpoint and their eventual acceptance of what is going on it will allow the administration to enact the changes they'd like to. The hope now is that the other two branches of govt actually perform as checks and balances. I think the court may, I don't think the Senate and House will at all.

Less than 58% of elligible voters actually voted. This means that only a third of the US population actively voted to not have Trump in office.

Yes, they do deserve this. Especially since a lot of people votes based on the party line. Let's not forget that Trump was also voted into the Republican candidacy, against other candidates, while The Democrats chose Hillary and her corruption, who was a horrible candidate (when Bernie Sanders was a much more capable candidate).

Over 40% of the population decided to sit out and waive their vote, either due to disdain for both candidates, or pure laziness.

Americans deserve everything that is happening to them, much like Britain is with the Brexit vote. The American public took the election for granted. If a large majority of people did not want Trump in office, they should have voted.

"The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter"
