Yeah, I guess what I am saying is that there is a certain common sense to the general principle of nationalism expressed by Trump - although, unfortunately, his expressed views are devoid of any reference to liberty, or the constitution - that is, principles which make the USA unique from most of the world's nations.

Most countries make references to Liberty and Constitution, most of them then ignore those references just as completely as the US has done for most of its history.

What actually happened is these senior staff tendered their resignations at the change of government, which apparently is traditional (possibly mandatory?) during these transitions. The incoming administration decides whether to keep them on for a transition period or for the next term. It is unusual for the new government not to keep them on for a while but entirely within their prerogative to do so. In sports terms Trump simply declined to pick up their options.

This might be a poor decision but not a hanging offence.

It's easy to keep a population in subjugation when you get certain segments of it to do the dirty work for you. Get the straights, whites, and males to keep the LGBTs, ethnic groups, and females down, and the government is left with very few people to actively screw over.

The White House has, in recent history, offered up a line of communication to the public in the form of a phone line where citizens can call and leave comments for the President. Staffers screen these comments, categorize them, and decide what to pass along.

Apparently, not anymore.

Since entering office, Donald Trump has yet to re-open the comments line, which was shut down during the transition process according to ThinkProgress. Now, callers are greeted with a recording that instructs them to instead Facebook message the White House— a feature that doesn't exist, or, leave comments in the online web form.

People, um, didn't like that. So they're calling his hotels instead.
White House Inc. is a project by Revolution Messaging, the same company that handled the digital side of Bernie Sanders' campaign. Users anonymously submit their phone number, and White House Inc. connects them to one of Trump's hotels worldwide.

Harassment of people who have nothing to do with Trump other than working somewhere that bears his name is a bit ridiculous. You can bet that these are not polite calls either.

There are better ways of expressing displeasure than pestering people who have nothing to do with your grievance and can't do a damn thing about it.

Nuclear warheads are useless for invading other countries. Most of Russia's are strategic deterrent weapons, and the tactical ones they have are extremely unlikely to be used offensively because that invites escalation. The Russians are not a superpower. They are a local power with lots of crappy nukes that they need thousands of because they are inaccurate junk.

You know what Russian bases there are outside of the old Soviet republics and Russia itself? There's a naval resupply base in Vietnam, and 2 bases in Syria, one naval and one air. That's it. You cannot credibly claim to be a superpower without the ability to project power worldwide. Even the British and French still have a far greater reach than that.

Anyway, the original point is that the Russians are weak bogeymen who don't directly threaten the West anymore.Yeah, it sucks if you're close enough to them for Putin to be able to reach you, or if you live in Syria, but other than that they are irrelevant compared to China, Western Europe, or America.

They should come up with some kind of system where you talk to someone or can leave a message specifically for this type of comment or complaint. You could call it, I dunno, the "White House presidential comment line". That would solve the problem right there!

They have other government representation to grieve to.

Regardless of who you voted for or how pissed you are that your candidate didn't win, there isn't really a good excuse for abusing some poor hotel clerk.

Why should your senator, for example, care that you want to complain about, or to, the president? I'd say the employees of his hotels are just as relevant as the "other government representation" are to these kind of questions.

Military bases on foreign soil are nice, but you don't really need them when the countries you want to threaten are right across the border and not on another continent.

I mean, Trump is already working to defund grants that handle the various parts of the Violence Against Women act, which helps to protect women from domestic violence.

Trump still cares more about his wallet than he does about this country.
If citizens are tying up the lines at his hotels, it means that those hotels aren't able to properly handle their business, which means he's going to lose money. This might force him to actually reopen the phone lines for the White House itself.

At this point, I'm not against any non-violent response to Trump. He's proven himself to be a threat not just to Americans but to a lot of other countries as well.
