MAF is frustrated
pressure growing to find a solution for Fleury
Rutherford wants something that matters in return for Fleury, and that is not easy
cynics were thinking that Malkin missing one game was an excuse to get out of the All Star game, but there is a good chance he misses a few games after the break too
Duchene saying he is open to trade doesn't necessarily mean he is gone from the Avs, but will fuel speculation
double digit teams have inquired on Duchene
asking price is high and no rush from Sakic's perspective as he can wait and get a better return this summer
both goalies in Philly are set to become UFA
Flyers taking a wait and see approach before they decide to commit to either or both goaltenders

Gio for M Staal, Girardi, Callahan, Boychuk? Give your head a shake people.
Gio is still performing like a top pairing d at worst. He is still a very, very good defenseman and is lightyears better the mentioned players.
If you want to open up long term cap space you don't replace him with a lesser player with an equally pricy contract.

I agree, opening up that cap space would allow the flames to keep a backlund, I believe We have missed Gio's peak value though due to his large contract, declining performance and getting older though. If they can get good value, absolutely they trade him, just think they've missed their window a bit, not much, maybe someone still bites with a big contract.
This is the same situation as Backlund though. People would never have traded Gio in his previous contract while performing. Now Gio is getting paid and getting older, declining. People see him as tradable now.
To your other comment about over 30 = garbage, you missed it again. I don't think he's garbage or will be garbage. He could be the best 3rd line center in 4 years but he will have priced himself out of the Flames cap. I'm saying he's good, pricing himself out of Calgary because the young guys will have taken over by then.

Chicago Wolves have signed Dman James Wisniewski to a 25 game professional tryout. Wisniewski has been playing in KHL.

What's Rutherford's leverage with every team knowing that he has to trade MAF before the expansion draft or lose Murray? I would imagine he's essentially going to wait until the very last minute and take the best offer available but it's not likely going to be anywhere near what he's been asking for or the trade would have been made already.

Speculation on what Colorado will do to replace Varlamov? On the one hand, they are a no chancer for the POs, on the other, they still need an NHL goalie. What can they be ripped off for?

They technically have Calvin Pickard who they're probably going to be okay running with for the rest of the season. If they need another NHL capable player, I'd imagine the Avs would be more interested going in the bargain bin for the likes of Pavelec to keep costs low for this lost season.

Speculation that the Nesterov trade might be just the beginning for the Canadiens and the added depth may allow them to include Beaulieu in a package for a top 6 forward:

I've always wondered what a guy like Beaulieu would look like as our #4.
The cost would definitely be prohibitive I would imagine.

Nesterov trade last night, Dumont and Borunival on waivers today. Yzerman doing all sorts of roster moves fueling speculation he might be up to something in the next few days.

Yeah, I dunno.
He makes a lot of bonehead plays, and Therrien buries guys who do that.
He was pretty vocal when he dropped down the pairings.
Not saying he won't turn it around - he has size and talent.

After the last interview Treliving gave, I can see him chasing a top 4 defenseman in the offseason to clog the left side and force Gulutzan to play Brodie on the right. It's clear he mentioned Brodie has different looks on the left and that Brodie is capable of playing both sides, even though Gulutzan is playing Brodie on the left to give them depth. That also tells me that Flames defense drops off significantly after the big 3.

But he's not really a substantial part of the deal. In that case, what does it take to get Bishop? It's not like he's carrying the Lightning and he hasn't really stood on his head to carry a team to the playoffs and certainly doesn't have the best playoff record.
So what's his actual value?
