Is it crazy to think that he needs to go rip the team a new a-hole? The whole 'not talking to the team after a game', but doing an interview is just ridiculous. It reminds me of Judy Jetson lying on her tummy, with her chin in her palms, talking to DiDi. GiGi is using the media to tell his team what's up instead of going in there and saying it himself? Really? An NHL head coach? Say it ain't so.
On a road trip in Ontario right now with a bunch of Oilers fans and a Habs fan. Watched the game at a pub in Kingston tonight, it was unbearable. Flames need to start showing showing some pride because right now it's awfully hard to defend them.

It wasn't just because it was more fun to watch. The 'atrocious' goaltending was seen as a legitimate reason last season. For me, it was a solid stretch of around 120 games or so before last season where this team played really hard and seemed to have an identity. It made it at least plausible that it was a hiccup last year.
Gulutzan doesn't have that track record on the Flames, or even in the NHL as a coach, so people are less likely to believe this bad stretch is a hiccup.
And it's not. I agree with you.
Last year the October narrative was 3 headed monster plus Brodie injury plus Gio back from layoff plus Hamilton new to CGT.
This year it was not player specific, just new coach and learning the system.
Thing is last year the goalie narrative turned toward Hiller being Hiller and Ramo being ok and dropping off on the event of his injury. This year? Elliott being Elliott (new Hiller) and ... sudden propensity to make 4-0 deficits standard practice then wilt, as a team, like a flower.
No. This is a new brand of stink where the excuses are not as convenient,
Glen Gulutzan is the least of this team's problems. Right now I'm looking at one guy: Johnny Gaudreau.
Way to earn your contract pal, glad you held out for that $6.75mil. You're sure proving everyone who thought you were and elite player right. I'm not advocating trading him, but my God I would LOVE to see him scratched. Quit feeling sorry for yourself and whining every time something doesn't go your way. You're a great player, go out there and ####ing make things go your way! I am so sick and tired of watching the guy who's allegedly our best player play like a giant turd every game. It's a real travesty the NHL sent him to the all-star game ahead of Backlund or Tkachuk. I'm genuinely shocked at myself for how much I've soured on Gaudreau this year. He'll be lucky to hit 50 points for God's sake! Pick it up man!
I hate this team. I love this team.
See you guys Thursday for hopefully a positive rant.
I'm over Versteeg. If we wanted a small weak player who is a pp specialist we should have just kept Hudler. At least he had chemistry with Monahan and Gaudreau.
Versteeg played 18 minutes tonight. If Versteeg is playing 18 minutes on your team, you're going to have a bad time.

I actually don't mind Versteeg, yes he can be a little reckless at times with his fancy no look passes but he puts in the effort and attempts to make something happen out there, and at what cost? 950 k? The only reason he gets that much ice time is cause the Flames have no depth on the right side, that isn't his fault.
What does Troy Brouwer exactly do? For a big body he's soft, doesn't stick up for his teammates, doesn't skate very well, creates little and has brought nothing in terms of leadership. Was he even playing tonight? I was at the Flames Leafs game on Monday, sitting 8 rows off the ice and I wouldn't have even noticed he was playing except for the fact he took a stupid slashing penalty on a nothing play in the 1st and then turned the puck over on the PP leading to the Leafs 3rd goal. How much is he making? 4.5 million for the next 4 years.

Nothing makes sense anymore. Watching Flames games is like watching this on repeat.
Ohhhhh, power is produced by the modial interaction of magneto reluctance and compacitive deractance. The original machine’s prefamulated amulite, surrounded by its malleable logarithmic casing, meant that the two spurving bearings were in a direct line with the panametric fam, and that makes all the difference.

Should Treliving bring in the Bobs?

He actually held out for more and settled at 6.75
Johnny has had a tough go lately, broken hand, crappy linemates and soft teammates. He's working hard and trying, in the end he'll learn and be better for it.
Monahan is a bigger issue for me, he looks like he's addicted to Tetrodotoxin.

I don't blame Gaudreau. Yes, I don't like the whining. But three facts lead me to placing the blame on the new coach:
1. Gaudreau was all world last season, and at the allstar tournament to start this season, he clearly looked like one of the best players in the world.
2. Our co-mvp from last season, Brodie, is also nowhere near the level he was last season.
3. Monahan has also taken a massive step back.
The team can't be good with these three players all struggling. The two best players on the team last season, and our first line center are all bad and can't seem to play GG's system effectively. So GG needs to find a new system that works for them. But he won't.
Even Crosby couldn't overcome the wet blanket that a bad coach with a bad system represents to a hockey team. And these guys aren't Crosby.

Gulutzan is done if he can't turn things around right away. I think that's something 90% of Flames fans can agree on. There's no way in hell he gets another chance next season with the way this teams stars have regressed playing under him.
Gio deserves some heat too. Highest paid player not leading by example. Talking and not doing! Sadly there is no leadership on this team so stick with status quo I guess. This is not just a coaching problem when talking about leadership.
