I think it has to do with the amazing stoylines they can produce. Picture it

Game 7.

12 seconds left on the clock. Flames are down to the Habs (shut up it's my fantasy) 4-3

Johnny streaks up the left side, Backs up the right. They gain the zone 8 seconds left.

Pass on the backhand to 11, one timer BOOM. 4-4 with 4 seconds on the clock.

Flames go on to win in OT and take the hardware.

Storylines.

It's real frustrating that so far, all of Hartley's good coaching traits are missing in Glen, and all of Glen's good coaching traits are missing in Hartley.

Gulutzan is Brutal..... He's no leader. Unfortunately his catastrophic Eakinsesque failure will also be Treliving demise.

It's all rotten so there's probably not much good to go around.
Did he blame "his" 4th line or the 4th liner he keeps playing on his top line?

It's possible to split up the Tkachuk/Backlund/Frolik line and not do worse.

The Flames cant even win a trade with this coach. But visually they look better?

Definitely agree with everything you said. It's like polar opposites.

The coaching staff needs to hold the players accountable. All of them.
Upper management needs to hold the coaching staff accountable.
Players not giving a complete effort should eat popcorn next game.
GG should perhaps have a week off.

Listen, Treliving had the balls to fire the reigning Adams winner with a year left.

This coach was supposed to be an upgrade.

While I don't agree with all of Gulutzan's comments, at least the guy finally showed some emotion for a change. Would be nice if we saw a bit of that from the players on the ice as well.

Listening to the GG presser a second time. He went after the top players more than I caught initially.

"Our top guys did nothing".

Have to agree with the previous poster: I hate Gulutzan's sarcastic comment about the 4th line. It's one thing to point out a mistake, but that comment makes it unnecessarily personal.

Flames are so good at ruining a season is in under 2 weeks. It's actually impressive.

They are also very good at making me believe things have turned around for like a 3 week period, just to rip my heart out again.

It's never as good as we think it is nor is it ever as bad. The problems are pretty basic stuff right?

When your best players aren't your best players you're gonna have a bad time.

When your goalies can't make a save you're gonna have a bad time.

This same team played worse under Hartley last year but fans were more forgiving because it was more fun to watch. It does feel like if our GM is "old school" we're coming up on a firing or a shake up trade but that never really happens anymore right?

Would be nice if Gulutzan would show a tiny bit of emotion behind the bench, what effing good does it do to go on a rant on talk radio? And him calling out the 4th line is pure garbage my opinion of this guy was never that great but it took a major hit tonight.

It's pretty crazy to think we had a worse slump under Hartley in the season we made the playoffs.

All we need is a miracle victory via comeback to break the slump and ensure we turn the season around.
