To me it looks like it might possibly be a bit of both. I agree they're definitely gripping their sticks though. Entire team looks frustrated.

Hogwash
They had 19+ minutes last night and tonight where the goalies did their job to get the first goal and give them some support.
Johnson and Elliott each held the fort long enough for them to get on the board and feel good about themselves.

Just when you think it can't get any worse, we have to listen to more John Shannon.

Hard to expect your players to go through a wall for you when you show zero Emotion and won't even so much as raise your voice at an official. What a ####ing zombie we have behind our bench.

Midseason slumps are normal. That's why you need to build a cushion in October/November.

Hockey purists can't tell me this is entertaining. Teams need to score goals for this to even bother my time. If I wanted to watch 2 hours of garbage I'd watch Gigli starring Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez.
No way I'm watching this.

He's also a player's coach who is good at creating a structured defensive game. The team literally became one of the best defensive teams overnight under his guidance. He also has done well with young players and gets a lot out of his top players. He's tough when he needs to be, and patient when he needs to be, especially with young guys. He doesn't worry about putting rookies out there if they show they can do the job. Case in point: Mike Matheson ended his college career and played all of 3 regular season games for the Panthers. The playoffs come around and all of a sudden Matheson is on the 2nd defense pairing and playing in most situations.
My only complaint is that he didn't have the team ready to compete at a higher level come playoffs and allowed Tavares to torch them and single-handedly win the series. However, it's a minor complaint and I speculate that most of the issue in that series was a very young team that had never tasted the playoffs before.
Even though the Panthers weren't world beaters early on with him at the helm, they are noticeably much, much worse now, and it's clear he was getting the best he could out of the roster he was given. Easily the worst mistake the Panthers franchise has made in years.
I honestly would LOVE a Gallant hire, especially if there's no opportunity to get someone like Julien.

So what's your solution? You expect the players to figure it out all on their own? Do you want all the players traded? What's your solution to getting Gaudreau back to the player he's been the past few years? I'm tired of some of this nonsense of posters passing this onto the players because the same players weren't garbage last season and the only big change is the head coach. Problem solving 101 folks.

Just turned the game on. 3 goals on ten shots? Brutal.

You would look bad too if you went to work and your manager was telling you to do things that were in contrast to your best abilities that weren't working.

Why weren't you saying these things when they were on a hot streak, when Gaudreau was scoring at PPG pace coming back from injury, or when Monahan had a 10-game point streak, or when Tkachuk had a 9 game streak going, or when Johnson was looking like the second coming of Kiprusoff and they were challenging for the division lead?
It's really easy to bash on the coach when things aren't going well, but that doesn't make all the vitriol being spewed in here true.

Thanks for the assessment. Definitely in line with what I've heard and read on him before, and the more I do read on him the more I like him
