Our goaltending coach needs to go, that is for damn sure. Gillies is definitely not ready, he has not been that good for Stockton this year. I am all for giving Rittich a look though.

Was the league leader in save % before coming here
Hell, look at Hiller's drop off his first year here to his second.
Every goalie we've had in the last few years has been pure ####, and while a lot of them simply weren't good, at least one, maybe two, was very good before turning to complete crap after getting here.
Not saying it's the sole issue, but Sigalet needs to go. He's a great guy but just isn't getting it done. Every goaltender he gets his hands on takes a career nosedive

At this point Sigalet simply can't be back next season in any capacity. Every goaltender that he works with gets worse the longer they spend with him. What ever he's doing to help their glove hands especially needs to stop as these both of these guys right now have the glove hands of beer league goaltenders.

Honest question. Do we really want Sigalet getting his hands on Rittich or any goaltender in the system?

Would St. Louis take him back? They aren't exactly setting the world on fire either / have given up a lot goals. Not that they would get a lot in return.

I will never understand the logic of keeping Sigalet on after canning Hartley and Cloutier. Especially after the team finished dead last in GA with tank commander Hiller.

Not really, but it would be nice to see what we have in Rittich before the season ends.

Does a goaltending coach actually do anything? Honestly I seriously doubt these goalies who've been in the NHL for years are all of a sudden going to listen to a goaltender coach. I mean sure he can help them prepare but I seriously doubt a veteran goalie like Elliott is about the change his game when he's been pretty successful in the NHL especially with his save percentage.
I couldn't care less if they do fire him but I really don't believe a goaltending coach effects much with veteran goalies.

Every goalie we've had since around 07-08 Kipper has been garbage. Including Kipper for a few years.
The Flames haven't been able to play a good sound defensive system since Darryl left. Don't think it's fair to blame Sigalet when we haven't had a goalie have success here in close to a decade.

While I don't think it's 100% on the coach (it rarely is), I was surprised Sigalet survived the purge. I think it's time to part ways with him as well. Is Sean Burke still available? IIRC he did wonders in Arizona and is highly regarded.

It depends I guess.
If part of pre game preparations involves Sigalet bashing the glove hand with a mallet, that has to stop right now.

Really?
Maybe, maybe not.
Kipper was a third-stringer who couldnt even get a look in San Jose. That may not have been exclusively down to the Goaltending coach, but you'd think he'd have seen and reported....something.
What about Devan Dubnyk? He got bounced out of the two worst teams in the league in Edmonton and Arizona and then lands in Minnesota and got a Vezina nomination.
I think coaching has a lot to do with goaltender success. However, that being said, its also a collaboration between the goaltender, the goaltender coach and the rest of the coaches.

Kipper did get a look in San Jose and it was a pretty long one over two seasons with something around 45 games. Not a great look but he did get his chance in San Jose.
When someone offers you a second rounder for a goalie with Kippers pedigree at the time, you take it every time. When Colorado wanted Berra we jumped at the second rounder.
And anybody who watched Dubynk knew he had skill. Just look at his numbers with edmonton. Very respectable numbers for being on the worst team in the league. I always thought Dubynk was a good goalie.
The system the goalie plays in I think makes the differnce in success. Look at when Quick has went down with injury the last few years. Pretty much every goalie jumped in and did a pretty good job in his spot.
I just don't think a goaltending coach change will make a differnce. I guess it can't hurt but don't see it making a real change.

A coach can have a huge impact on preparation and adjustments and the mental aspect of the game. Helping with confidence and reviewing performance and discussing tweeks here and there would have a huge impact. Everyone talks about coaches systems and having the players ready, but then say the goaltender coach doesn't have any impact? Every one has a part and a role. Goal tending sucks. You have had many different goalies. What hasn't changed? That's where the next adjustment change should be made.

Here's a thought. Maybe the goalies aren't the problem. Who's practicing with the goalies and warming them up?
The players that's who... The same players that, when they aren't missing the net, fire the puck right into the goalies chest and right into the goalies glove 99 times out of a hundred.
The goalies feel great practicing with our players then get a rude awakening in the real world facing players who can thread the needle

Disagree fully,
If an NHL goalie is expecting muffin shots during the game he doesn't belong in the NHL. The whole point of a warmup is to get your body moving and muscles prepared.
