Yup, that team definitely knew how to lock it down defensively. Didn't they win the Jennings trophy that year?

I hate watching Chiasson getting stapled to Johnny. They suck together, they flat out suck with eachother but Gully keeps thinking that it will click. No chemistry nothing, the whole season now. But keep your pet with Johnny Glen, it's going great.

I don't get why Brouwer continues to get zero credit. No he's not producing at the level many expected, but he's definitely been contributing recently.
1st game back vs NJ: Draws the defenceman to him, battling in front of the net leading to Monahan being all alone for a rebound goal. But no assist for Brouwer.
2nd game back in EDM: Crashes into the defender spinning him around allowing Monahan to walk in and actually get a clean shot off for once, leading to Monahan's rebound goal. No assist for Brouwer.
3rd game back vs FLA: Perfect screen on Versteeg's soft backhand shot that Luongo never saw. No assist for Brouwer.
4th game back vs NSH: Another perfect screen on Versteeg's deflected slow moving shot from the point that Saros never got a good read on as a result. No assist for Brouwer. Brouwer was also parked in front on Monahan's late goal, creating room for Gaudreau to carry the puck around the net before setting up Monahan, Brouwer drew 2 defenders to him including Fisher who then scrambled to cover Monahan. Also no assist for Brouwer.
5th game back vs EDM: While shorthanded, Brouwer rushes the Oiler against the boards trying to set up a PP rush. The Oiler stopped and forced a bad pass that Monahan picked off for the breakaway goal. No assist for Brouwer.
I'd argue that of those 6 goals in 5 games he's been in for, 5 don't happen if not for Brouwer's efforts. Yet he doesn't register a single point of them.

I've never had an issue with his compete level but he lacks finish and doesn't have enough skill to be a fixture on a scoring line. I get that it's the best the organization currently has on RW but it's still frustrating to watch.

Yeah I don't get the Brouwer complaints, just because he's not flashy doesn't mean he isn't doing anything

Sure he's done some good things but he's pretty invisible most nights. And as a veteran guy who got a big pay raise I expected a lot more. That's just my opinion

Ya, kipper won the vezina, nominated for the hart, phaneuf scored 20 and I had to deal with the uncomfortable stares of dealing with a permanent 3-veiner because of how awesome the team was.
Roman Hamrlik was my boy.
Excuse me while I go cry.

He does his best work in the playoffs where the games are tighter. Maybe not a great fit for a team like the Flames that are struggling to get to the playoffs. I've never hated the signing but I find it an unnecessary signing at this stage in the team's development as he's the type of guy you bring in when you want to get over the hump in the playoffs not for his regular season play.

If you took him off that line though they would get absolutely roasted in goals against.
He is doing the heavy lifting out there, skating miles.

Flames '1st' line gets schooled in their own zone. Ugly start.

Blake Comeau skated miles as well while offense died on his stick. I'm not convinced he's helping that much.

Possibly one of the most important periods of the season and we've come out super flat. Not a great sign

also, in case I wasn't clear, he definitely doesn't have the finish to play on a top line, but he's got the work ethic which is sorely, sorely lacking in that group right now.
No one else can finish well enough to play with them anyway so it's a moot point. What're you gonna do, put ferland up there ? *laugh*
