That's not what he said, though. His complaint, whether you agree with it or not, was that no matter what the Trump team does, there's always a uniformly negative spin on it when it's reported, and that's what's demoralizing. I mean come on, at least be honest.

It was specifically in response to the clusterbleep about the crowds. The meaning is the same. It's a thin skinned response to an inane fact that he didn't like

Does the rank hypocrisy of these people have to be pointed out every single time they do it? Like I have to remind you how they treated every single thing Obama did the last 8 years? I hope not.

That wasn't his point, if you listened to it. His issue was that they have the inauguration, and rather than reporting about the speech, the primary focus was on how the crowd size wasn't that big, and that this is a trend - e.g. he nominates someone, and rather than talking about their record and accomplishments, the coverage focuses on why they shouldn't be confirmed. That's what he was calling demoralizing. Which, I agree, is basically just whining about coverage you don't like, but that was in fact his point.

If we're going to get up in arms about misleading or false information being propagated from the White House - which of course we absolutely should - the flip side of that is to at least accurately characterize what the guy says when reporting on it, is all I'm saying.

Lol, Spicer was basically a hockey player complaining that they couldnt get jacked up for the game because the arena was too quiet.

Sean Sphincter, give the news something newsworthy to cheer about and perhaps they'll publish a positive article.

Trump cares about the crowd size more than anyone. We. All. Know. This. If his crowd were bigger than Obama's we'd be in the White House's 70th straight hour of saying so, with dozens of press releases on it. So their desire to bury this is simply because they ended up being massive failures. I think reminding them of their massive failure is pretty good no? Remember how often Trump would mock "The failing <insert media company here>"? And his inauguration was a bust, terribly attended with a laughably bad concert. Taunting him about it should be accepted, if not applauded.

It seems only just that we treat the outright liars the same way we'd treat standard politicians. Sure it allows them to continue weaseling their blatant disregard for the truth into the narrative and normalizes their antics but it's what's just so we should really do it. Consequences be damned.

As much fun as it is to make fun of Spicer and Conway, the media is so focused on calling them and Trump out for lying about something so petty and stupid as the size of the inauguration crowd, that they aren't adequately discussing Trump's ongoing financial conflicts of interest, pushing through nominations without getting their disclosure documents, and everything else that matters. I still can't figure out if this is brilliant strategy, or just the insecurity of a Narcissist.

Is this directed at me? I'm totally confused. What part of my post do you think you're responding to?

The crowd size thing was nothing more than an amusing aside early in the day. It only blew up after Spicer's ridiculous press conference where he lied through his teeth about some of the facts. The Trump team brought this ridicule on themselves.

Looking at the records and backgrounds of Trump's nominees, there are countless reasons for why some of these people should not be confirmed, including questionable conflicts of interest (Tillerson), or just being completely unqualified for the position (Ben Carson). If the press is doing their job properly, you're damn right they're going to focus on that.

Are you guys under the mistaken impression that I was arguing in favour of Spicer's point? All I was doing was stating his position.

Trump attacks the media, and actually promotes violence against them when he was campaigning, and now whines about the press not being fair to him? what a petulant child.
