They've earned every bit of this deficit, they're just so horribly bad. This embarrassment at the hands of the enemy is maybe needed for them to get their crap together again. At this point they've single-handedly gifted the Oilers their playoff spot this year while severely handicapping themselves in the race.
No harm in bringing up some baby flames to shake things up.
Oh god no. Let's this team limp along and let our kids enjoy some pretty good success in he AHL. Rushing the prospects is so Oileresque. And yes that term still applies, they were absolutely gifted McDavid after the NHL set in specific rules to keep Edmonton from drafting 1st overall repeatedly, which actually helped that sad sack ####ing team the ONE year they don't come in dead last.
