" There were also strong sewage odours in the men's change room and at the top of one of the waterslides."
What the hell? Why is there strong sewage odours at the TOP of the waterslides?
Anyhoo - gross.

Algae and mould are not good... but dust, dirt, stains and debris isn't exactly earthshattering. I think you could probably find that stuff in any public place you looked.
"****, they found dust on the stairs! Oh well dear, I am sure our honeymoon in Edmonton will still be great."

Yah, last time I visited that place it was pretty dirty all around, not just the waterpark. In their little aquarium thing, where the penguins are, EVERY single glass viewing area was utterly disgusting and the floors looked like they had not been mopped in months . So I am definatley not surprised.
(ALSO: they changed the nickname of the mall in 2001 to "THE GREATEST INDOOR SHOW ON EARTH" ! Another Edmonchuck ripoff from Calgary )

It's Edmonton. That's the way it smells.

Yeah, that was amusing.
So, if the Calgary Stampede is the "Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth" and West Edmonton Mall inexplicably is the "Greatest Indoor Show on Earth" what does that say about the Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus which has used the slogan "Greatest Show on Earth" for over 130 years?

Please change the title to "WEM Attractions are officially a Dirty Hole"
WEM is actually a very good mall to go to (when its not busy)

That's why Calgary differentiated (sp?) by saying "Outdoor". But I see what your saying, even though the Calgary Exhibition has been around since about 1885.

Better to copy the original than to copycat a copycat?

That's what I'm saying, I'm pretty sure that the circus is indoors so somebody should send WEM a memo.

Sewage has a 2.3x greater slimy factor than straight water. Greater the slim the faster the slide. Just a heads up watch out for the logs in the wave pool.

The final reason for me to ever set foot there was a decent waterpark..but, like the rest of the mall, as I went on in the last WEM thread, it has gone down hill.
But who am I to argue with millions of visitors from Spruce Grove, Lesser Slave Lake, and Leduc...some from as far away as Lloydminster.
I am sure this will be spun as a new marketing opportunity. Edmonton school kids can take field trips there, and, sort of like a hands on biology field trip, slide down the various slides, each slide simulating the path of a peice of food as it travels in various parts of the human digestive system. The smell is already there, as is the bacteria. Turn off the filter (if there is one?) for 10 mins, and stop dumping in gallons of bleach and chlorine, and I am sure the water color would be fairly accurate too.
No longer the Corkscrew (although I think that was taken out a while ago...) introducing the newest slide the "Bunghole".
