If Draisaitl doesn't sign a bridge and gets less than Monahan, he's been bamboozled hard. McDavid and Draisaitl are the Oilers

Friedman 30 thoughts

http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/3...n-shattenkirk/

One NHL exec thinks the Islanders are close to moving Strome edit: but Friedman thinks they may hold off on moving him to see if he preforms under a different coach.

Shatter Kirk may be willing to join a Canadian team like the Oilers for the playoffs only

Blues wanting Elliott back rumor was shot down

Speculates the Blackhawks might bring Sharp back

Habs and Ducks have been talking

Avs heavily scouting LA farm team. Targeting Paul Ladue

Lots of focus on Avs wanting dman but thinks they are also looking for goalies

Tampa will try to move Filpulla

Tampa has made Nesterov available but word is he might go to Russia next season

Shouldn't that be Shatner Kirk?

I wouldn't mind...He said he would go there for the playoffs but won't consider long term. They give up a ton and lose him for nothing

win-win

I wouldn't do a first. Strome is borderline 1st robe bust. I'd offer a second.

This brings up an interesting discussion point. Would you spend this year's 1st round pick? If so, on who?

Hard to say when we don't know who is available. Murray if Pitts is forced to move him.

Also Landeskog. And I'd add to the first on both trades.

Any valuation of Strome has to consider whether he would be protected in the expansion draft. If management wants to acquire him but not protect him at the expense of other forwards on the roster, this year's first would definitely be an overpayment. I'm not sure who I would expose in order to protect Strome should he be acquired.

Even if you protect Strome, he's not worth a 1st. It just means your roster sucks when you're protecting him. Or you're strategically exposing someone

Not sure who you are thinking of, but Nesterov is a d-man.

BTW his agent denying they have any interest in Europe:

Dr. Dan Retweeted Elliotte Friedman
Nikita Nesterov wants to play in the NHL. We are not entertaining offers from Europe. Looking for regular ice time and to help his club win.

I must have been thinking of another one of those Tampa Europeans. Point stands gaha.

Strange... TSN lists the Flames top priority as a 2nd line center, then talks about how they need a top 4 defenceman to reduce Wideman's minutes (which is probably true).

Oilers top priority: A right-shooting powerplay specialist on Defence... Hey, Chia, remember Dennis Wideman?

getting Troy Brouwer back when his broken finger heals will be like a trade deadline acquisition in itself.
Something about this makes me think that Frank Seravalli might not exactly have his finger on the pulse of the Flames.

Clearly our needs are top line RW and a #4 D.

The Flames do have poor center depth this season. Only Stajan and Backs have been pulling their weight, but that might be due to the poor winger talent too. When you're top wingers are Gaudreau and then Frolik and a rookie, it's not good.

I wonder what the Oilers want for Eberle. Wideman + Brouwer/Versteeg and Elliot to fill their holes?

They probably aren't interested in any of that.

Wideman is unmoveable with his baggage I imagine

So what are the Avs looking for if Duchene is moved. Seems to be a forgotten man.
