This culture was apparently allowed to exist under the previous chief so I'd imagine old habits die hard when it's engrained in a percentage of the force.

The article says that the video footage was captured by a Calgary Public Library security camera.

If the video was captured by police CCTV, they probably would have deleted it, and the public would never get a chance to see it.

Calgary Police Association president Les Kaminski to be charged with perjury

Calgary Police Association president Les Kaminski will be criminally charged with perjury, CBC News has learned.

The charge relates to a 2008 case involving a man who was acquitted in part because a judge did not believe Kaminski was a credible or reliable witness.

Sources who spoke on condition of anonymity told CBC News the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) has concluded its part of the investigation and handed the case over to Crown prosecutors, who decided to lay the charge.

In an interview with CBC News last week, Kaminski acknowledged he was under criminal investigation but said he was "confident" he would not be charged.

CALGARY - Alberta's police watchdog says two officers from the Calgary Police Service have been charged with serious crimes.
Susan Hughson, executive director of the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team, says Sgt. Les Kaminski has been charged with perjury and assault with a weapon.
She says Const. Brant Derrick has been charged with assault causing bodily harm.
Hughson says the charges stem from the arrest of Jason Arkinstall in 2008 and from the evidence given during his trial on one count of uttering threats against Derrick.
Both Kaminski and Derrick are to appear in Calgary provincial court on Feb. 7

I heard on the radio on the way home from work (660am) that the case wasn't opened until 2014, and that the delays were mostly due to the "significant issues with trying to work with the Spanish police, as one of the key witnesses is in Spain."

So a friend was just at Cactus Club downtown and I guess gang suppression walks in and the whole Predators team is in there eating. They go solely up to Subban demanding id and giving them a hard time. Apparently he was pretty upset. Way to go CPS, make our city look like we're in the 1800's.
