I don't think the Flames lost those trades but I thought l the deals are working out pretty good for Vancouver

It doesn't matter which picks the flames traded to acquire Hamilton, it is the fact that Treliving had enough draft pick capital that allowed him to trade two second round picks.
Flames don't make that deal if they only had two second round picks.

If Kings are really prepared to trade Muzzin, that's something Flames should be talking to them about. I don't for a second believe Landeskog would fetch Muzzin and a first rounder but if so, Treliving should be talking to Kings about doing some shopping on our roster.

Expansion draft makes that unlikely. Who do you expose to hold onto Muzzin?

Laughable to suggest that the Flames don't make the deal without the other second round pick. The trade was an absolute fleecing and you make that deal 10 times out of 10 they used their own assets and the asset from the Glencross trade that is fact.

I think have a number of seconds put the Flames in better position to look for deals like the one they would eventually make. So I do think having all three seconds was a factor, but it is equally hard to say they wouldn't have made the deal if they only had two.

I think Tre said the Hamilton deal took a long time to come to fruition. The Glencross deal was a deadline one, whereas Hamilton is an offseason one. I can't see how they're remotely related. It would be different if both were traded days or hours after each other, but one is a sale of a depth winger, the other is buying a #1 D man. I don't think too many GMs go into a franchise-changing #1Dman purchase wondering if it's dependant on the sale of a depth winger.
Let's look at it like this. Does Calgary still trade for Hamilton if Glencross is not traded? Do they still trade for Hamilton if Glencross does so bad he only fetches a 5th? Conversely, if the Flames didn't trade for Hamilton, do they still trade Glencross?

Good point which I hadn't really considered. Depending on the trade and other picks, you likely gave up a forward who would otherwise be protected. Is Bennett worth Muzzin and the Kings first? You could take that extra first, package with a 2nd, and get a very nice forward over the summer.
Exposing Brouwer does not really concern me.

Doan will consider waiving his NTC if he goes to a good situation (i.e. chance to win a cup)
Jets goalie troubles. May trade Hutchinson (Sharks interested) and bring up Pavelec
Maurice is not in trouble yet, Friedman wouldn't be surprised if he gets extended (still has another year left on current contract)

Haha I can just picture Ressurrection and GJG having mild tantrums over that tidbit

He's horribly overrated. Why pay a ton for a guy who's looking like a 20 goal, 50 point guy? Because the media has a weird idea he's this amazing leader and great two-way player? The guy has been a disappointment.

BTW, Another Matthews beauty: He intentionally loses a F/O and makes a great pass for Brown to score.
Who does this? What a smart player.

What does this have to do with the trade/rumours thread?
We get it bigtuna, your rookie trio is stellar, no need to keep cramming it into every thread. Try talking about the other teams/players in the league for once...

Sure, it'll only cost something like Brodie and Jankowski, or Bennett and Kyllington/Fox. Cost is too high.
