snip snip *shudder*
It's time to consider getting fixed....uhhh...for a friend.
I can't imagine pulling a name out of the yellow pages for this kind of thing, so has anyone had a good experience somewhere?
(If you've had a bad experience I don't want to hear it)
So far I've gotten one referral for - and this is no joke - www.vasman.com

At first glance I thought this was the circumcision thread all over again. I was just going to point you there, but you're not talking about that.. heh.. Sorry, I can't say I know anything about it.

There is a thread on here about that.
I had it done about two years ago.
The vasman is supposed to be very good at it. My co-worker had his done a few years back as well.
Your family doctor (if you have one) can referr you.
My guy has his practice in Gulf Canada Square but does all his surgeries in the Rockyview......
If I can answer any more questions fleer free to ask.
Yes... it hurts like hell for a few days afterwards.

Isn't there a male version of the pill coming out soon?
Dear god, if there isn't I hope there is by the time I'm done reproducing

I got a snip scheduled for January.
Go to your family doctor, he'll send you to a specialist.

seriously I have no idea why the other regs make fun of you on the board, but I am surprised none of them jumped on this because I almost did and I don't even know what the inside joke is...

From a woman's perspective, I say, "Thank you" to all men, including my husband who have had this done or are thinking about it. It's two days of discomfort and some fairly freakish bruising, but it's a lifetime of spontaneous sex. WOOT!!

My wife and I have three kids, eight, six and four, and we're 99% sure we're done with the procreation bit. She has hinted a few times that it's time for me to go get bedeezered, but I'm scared she'll send me down for a reversal in a couple years. I've heard that the reversal is pure hell.

Once in a while, I get the urge to have one more, but it passes. I think about dirty diapers, and college funds but mostly, I think about how long it takes to go anywhere with bottles to make and diaper bags to pack and car seat straps and the crick I get in my neck trying to ensure everything and everyone is harnessed properly in the vehicle and that's just to go grocery shopping. It was a half an hour fiasco every time.
I love my kids like nothing on earth, but I am so happy to be able to just go. I open my mouth and say "Anyone who wants to go for ice cream, needs to be in the car in 5 minutes." Lo and behold, I can put on my shoes, go out to the car and there the little darlings sit, all strapped in with all the proper attire and sometimes even a little purse with some change in it to buy their own treat.
I think about that and then I lean over and give my husband a big ole kiss to let him know how much I appreciate the fact that he had the gumption to say "Two is enough."

When I got mine done my Dr. told me that if I wanted to get it reversed it is very expensive (few thousand dollars or so, I cannot remember exactly) and the chance of it taking is less then 25%.

Does anyone know anything about the so-called "scalpel-less" vasectomy? In my mind's eye, I see someone coming at me with two bricks and a frozen bag of peas.

Yeah, they use a grapefruit spoon instead of a scalpel so it is more of a challenge.
