I honestly don't believe Trump is capable of deciphering what is the truth and what isn't.
I think he's demonstrated by now that his narcissism is pathological. It's pretty much the reason why I no longer pay attention to or care what he says. I feel like they are a distraction from long form journalism about him and his administration.

Pretty much. All they need is Trump on the stand, and he'll either repeatedly commit perjury, or be honest which likely cooks him too. And when the intelligence community leaks the tax returns and exposes Trump even worse, there's likely nowhere to go at that point except removing him.
My guess if if Trump is removed in this way, rightly or wrongly you will see a split country with an accelerated internal hostility beyond what you saw during the civil war.
The people that voted against the establishment and the so called undesirables on one side and on the other the establishment faithful and others.
We could see a rise in militia groups and crazies and we could see internal terrorism become a thing.

Speaking of perjury, looks like Tillerson may have committed some in his testimony today.

It's interesting they use the word profit rather than revenue in regard to his hotels. He still benefits from people using his hotel at a break even basis.
Exactly, Trump will still keep most of the payments. Any profits will first be deducted against previous losses too, so foreign payments will help offset past losses.
Not only that, if large amounts are added to the Treasury despite whatever book keeping shell game is done, then Trump STILL benefits. Just the appearance of donating money to the Treasury is beneficial, politically and to his brand (which is his primary asset). So it could still be used to gain favour.
EDIT: You know that he'll go on and on about how much he gave to the US Treasury at every campaign speech press conference.

As I've stated already, the Republicans, if the plot this right, will mostly be hailed as heroes for removing "an anti-American traitor". Trump as we saw today will do more than enough to drive his approval ratings into the 20's, which makes removing him so very easy at that point (remember he's already the least popular incoming President ever). And honestly, most Trump cultists are keyboard warriors, so the likelihood of any sort of uprising is low.

Pharmaceutical companies are "getting away with murder," President-elect Donald Trump said during his Wednesday press conference — and the sector didn't get away unscathed.
After Trump mentioned drug prices and pharmaceutical companies' tax inversions, the nine biggest pharmaceutical companies by market cap on the S&P 500 shed roughly $24.6 billion in 20 minutes. That includes the market caps of Johnson and Johnson, Pfizer, Merck, Amgen, AbbVie, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Gilead, Celgene, and Eli Lilly.

The real factor on how long Trump lasts will be Republican house primary prospects. If the threat from other republican running on an impeach trump platform is greater than the threat of a republican running on a keep trump platform that representative will vote for impeachment.
So the goal of anyone who believes that Donald Trump is unfit should be targeting arguments at republican primary voters, a group far to the right of the swing vote in a presidential election.

I've read little of this thread and it may have been mentioned but what is the requirement to impeach, other than perjury? Can his party initiation impeachment because the guy is stupid? I imagine that it would be far harder for citizens to do it. This wingnut scares me.
QUESTION: Thank you, Mr. President-elect, can you stand here today, once and for all and say that no one connected to you or your campaign had any contact with Russia leading up to or during the presidential campaign. And if you do indeed believe that Russia was behind the hacking, what is your message to Vladimir Putin right now?
TRUMP: He shouldn’t be doing it. He won’t be doing it. Russia will have much greater respect for our country when I’m leading than when other people have led it. You will see that. Russia will respect our country more. He shouldn’t have done it. I don’t believe that he will be doing it more now.
It's a real shame that reporter just had to get that second question it. She ####ed that moment up.

In 1970, then-House Minority LeaderGerald R. Ford defined the criterion as he saw it: "An impeachable offense is whatever a majority of the House of Representatives considers it to be at a given moment in history."
So, uhm..high standards.

3 votes to remove
Majority of the house judiciary committee
Majority of the house
2/3rds majority of the senate
There is supposed to be a treason or criminal act but that is just the catalyst. It's really whether you have the votes and the political cover to do it.

Thank you. That seems difficult and unlikely in that it must be for a crime and not stupidity or ill-conceived public comments about "over-rated" actors and crotch grabbing.

I think something like perjury, bribery or abuse of power are the most likely ways Trump goes down.
So did anyone in the media actually look at the documents in those folders in the desk, or should we just assume it was a bunch of folders with blank sheets of paper?

It will be for a foreign government giving his company preferential treatment on a contract or the like, essentially he will be in conflict as soon as he's sworn in.
His hotel is charging the US government rent for his security detail, that's grounds to impeach
