I know someone who went as a road one year. Dressed all in black used white and yellow electrical tape to mark the lines and sewed hotwheels to her shirt and pants...was actually pretty cool.
A scary one is to get a wig, cheap make-up and a mumu from Value Village and go as mimi from the drew carey show.

my halloween costume is still very much a debacle... so far i think the leading candidate for me is to wear a suit and tie, then hang a cardboard cut out that i make that will contain my name, how much money i have won, and the red timer... and ta'da!! a jepordy contestant!!!
last two years i have dressed up as a Emo kid... that was fun, carried around a pad of paper and wrote sh*t about why i wanted to kill myself
and the year before that i dressed in a giant red cylinder, put a giant red cone on my head, and i was ketchup... man i loved that one

Put on a box, glue cotton balls at the top and then long strings running out of the bottom. With paint, markers, or whatever you like, write TAMPAX across your box and voila, you're a box of tampons.
If you're going with a big group people, I knew a bunch of guys who went as Brownies one year...ahhh yes...hairy guys in mini brown skirts....they even made their own sashes with badges sewn on.
I knew someone else who dressed up as a big bag of Lipton Sidekicks one year...

If you came up with that yourself, color me impressed. However, I read that idea online just yesterday, and was considering doing it myself...complete with "speaking all night in the form of a question" and referring to everyone as Alex.
Just in case I decide to go through with that one as well, you're not attending a party on Oct. 27 in Edgemont, are you?

definatley not going to your party.. and even if i was going to your party, it would kinda be fun to compete against each other dont you think?? maybe even get someone to dress up as Alex!!
didnt even think of speakin in the form of questions all night and referring to everybody as Alex... i think those ideas make it a bit more concrete for me to do this
toss in some sean connery quotes from SNL "I'll take Anal Bum Cover for $200"

Okay, then. We have a theme at work - the Old West. I've got a Miss Kitty, Annie Oakly(sp?), a sherriff, a gunslinger, a bartender/paino man, a saloon girl, a gold miner, a trapper, a school teacher, a gambler, and 3 cowboys. Way too much fun ordering and making costumes.
The other three idea that fell in the vote were superheros (someone wanted to be Captain Underpants), the roaring 20's, and Pirates of the Carribbean.
My favorite idea was rockstars, but it didn't make the final vote.

halloween is no where near as big over here and if people dress up for parties they usually go as something traditionally scary like a vampire, frankenstein etc and its crap. people just buy a cheap cape and mask. but being engaged to Canadian i get the whole fancy dress thing and its so much better. So this year we convinced the pub/bar we go to throw a halloween party and told everyone to get a great costume. no costume, no entry, the more effort the more free drinks you got - that was the clincher. the only problem was we had to throw it a week early. we had it on saturday. me and my mate went as the two gay cowboys from brokeback mountain. easy costume to wear but we arrived ( a bit too early ) on real horses because my sisters friends stables are real close to the pub. we even had one of those plastic childrens tents we put up on the dancefloor. both went in and my mate grunts while i shout "why wont you just let me be" - everyone got who we was after that. we came joint third which was awesome. 2nd prize went to steve irwin complete with stingray barb in heart. first prize went to.. well not a character as such but a man who wore some kind of transparent bubble the sealed around his torso that was completely filled with water. it was an amazing sight to see 'aquaman' as he called himself get more and more wrinkly over the night.
he planned the outift well as all the seals held firm to well after 2am when we had to empty him because he was freezing. the only thing he didnt plan on was... well you figure it out. his fresh h20 filling was decidedly more yellow as time went by.

If you know a lot of hot girls willing to flaunt it, going as the Kokanee Mountain Patrol is awesome.

I think I've decided to go as someone who "sleeps with the fishes." I can do the makeup--the fake bullet hole, and I might wrap myself in black plastic and fake chains. I wanted to put buckets of cement on my feet, but couldn't think of a light cement substitute, so I may have to leave that one out. The clincher? A diorama of fish attached to my collar so that the fishes "float" around my head.
Lame? Perhaps. But the only idea I've had that wasn't kiboshed by my wife.
