^ Thanks for posting and much needed with this weather! It's been so lame that i've actually considered trying ice fishing, just so I can feel a fish.

And no luck? I don't mind ice fishing...it's not my favorite, but it's alright. I particularly enjoy a little bit of booze to warm you up from the inside if its super cold!

Last outing, right before New Years, all I had to show for my efforts was two fouled white fish, ewe.
and Troutman, I have three vices set up at mine, lets get tying!

I was all around the lakeland this past week.
Spencer Lake on Sunday: good action, limited out of pike and walleye and c-and-r'd a few more. nice fish
Siebert Lake on Wednesday: a lot slower, didn't even see a pike on the camera all day, but then again I'm not very familiar with this lake, still a good time though.
Lac St. Cyr + 2 Mystery Lakes on Thursday: very slow at all three lakes, though I managed to pull up a small pike at St. Cyr, a small perch at the first mystery lake, and a small walleye at the second one. 3 species in one day is pretty good, even if they were all small
best of all, I managed to keep my not-skunked streak alive!

It is laughable that was posted to Alberta Flyfishing looking for support.
Thing is though, if they get shut out of the Castle where are the OHV guys going to go? They'll likely head up to the Livingstone and turn that into an even bigger gong show than it already is.
Is it better to spread that activity out or concentrate it to a limited area which will get hit hard? Shame that it's going to hammer the Livingstone which arguably used to be the best fishery we had in southern Alberta.

Apparently whirling disease has been discovered in the Bow. Just heard on CTV... I'll try and find a link.

Parked at the top of the hill and hiked about a mile through a foot of snow down to Lourdes Camp on Friday. I think I was the only human for about a mile in every direction. It was absolute serenity. Just me, a few quackers, honkers, and a couple of crows.
The sun even made an appearance,
Caught my limit, threw 2 bows back, kept one and the 2 salmon.
What a terrible morning,

This summer I'm looking at doing some more lake fishing, and I want to get an inflatable boat as I don't have a truck. Does anyone have any suggestions for an inflatable boat? Ideally it would seat 3-4, aside from that what else should I be looking for?
Edit: after some more reading, a 2 person boat should be enough. Also being able to have a trolling motor attached would be a plus.

I'd get a canoe instead of an inflatable.

I went to Lac St Cyr today. Pretty decent weather, saw quite a few perch on the screen and several pike as well but the highlight was a burbot that gave our camera a little nudge and then slowly glided off screen. I'd never seen one before so it was quite interesting.
My not-skunked streak is over though. Didn't even pull a baby perch up.

Thanks, he was my consolation prize for losing so many big trout lately. I'm not sure what the deal is, maybe not getting a good hook set as i'm fishing 40 feet out, day dreaming when i'm bringing them in or i'm just gripping the rod too tight because its in my head?

Slava,
I'll continue the pike fly fishing discussion here. So I don't know if I have a fly rod suitable for fishing pike, I only use a 6 weight. Do you think I'd have to upgrade to something a bit heavier for the glenmore reservoir or would this work?

Well a 6 is a good all-around rod and you can probably make it work just fine. The tough part is if you get into something huge. The challenge with some of those weights though is firing out the big streamers. You can make it work with a 6 though and I've done that for sure on rivers and streams for trout. I think that a 6 would work though and it has a good amount of backbone.
