Curious to see how the next 10 games go. My gut feeling is we've been given a false sense of hope from a very soft schedule over the last month.
Hopefully I'm wrong and we find some of the form that got us through the equally tough stretch while JG was out.

Absolutely horrible effort. They pretty much gave Hellebuyck the night off.

Backlund's unsportsmanlike penalty has me wondering how much the constant tilt to the ice courtesy the officials is affecting the players' game.
Any analogous work environment would be psychologically draining where your own work is critiqued on a harsher scale than your peers.

Since the Flames recovered from the disaster that was the begging of the year, when they are bad the games look a lot like tonight. Not badly outplayed, but just a whole lot of trying to force plays that aren't their and lots of poor decisions that kill offensive chances ir create unforced turn overs. Just bad decisions with the puck.

You know it's bad when Wideman plays like garbage and he's still not the worst guy on the pairing. Tough game for Brodie -- he was pretty putrid tonight.
Is there a stat for odd man rushes that result in zero SOG? I think we had about a dozen of them -- and half didn't even result in a shot attempt

Way too simple to blame Wideman, he had nothing to do with Brodie gifting Wheeler that goal.

Ch-changes coming? We have the talent ( at least I thought we did) but team chemistry is a problem.

That a flat out horrible excuse for a player of Brodie's caliber.
He was awful and has been for a major portion of the season.

Ice tilt? Each team had four penalties. Pretty evenly called game.
There's no conspiracy against the Flames. The Wideman effect isn't real. Let's stop blaming the refs. The Flames could have had 0 penalties called against them tonight and they still would have lost.

Seems like Gio had a dreadful game as well as Brodie. There's another guy this team needs to be WAY better if this team's going anywhere good.

Fell asleep when it was 1-0, woke back up after what I thought was a couple minutes to see it was still 1-0. Felt happy with myself until I realized it was the third period. Sounds like the Flames were asleep for the entire second period too.

Or the next shift when Brodie made a terrible pass on a faceoff-win leading to a 2-on-1 against.
Or the next shift when the Flames had the Jets hemmed in with a broken stick, and Brodie skates around with the puck before turning it over, losing his stick, and causing another scoring chance against.
Brodie was monumentally worse than Wideman tonight. Blaming Wideman constantly for Brodie's poor decisions with the puck isn't holding TJ accountable enough. He's simply been poor with and without the puck for 95% of the season so far.

Man I knew I was pretty emotionally invested in the Flames, but for some reason tonight's game hit a really sour note with me.
One of the only guys who showed up tonight was our goaltender who was excellent. Other than that, far too many individual efforts leading to bad turnovers and ineffective shots on an unscreened goalie.
We had zero pushback in the third and almost everyone seemed content to just go through the motions and get back on the plane.
What's so frustrating is you had both Edmonton and Anaheim lose last night and had a big opportunity to come out tonight and maybe jump up a little in the race and instead you lay an absolute stinker.
I get it, it happens but that was pathetic and reminded me far too much of the Flames from October.

This game and the Tampa Bay game are the games that negatively stick out for me so far this year...
-trying to make low percentage passes
-turnovers in the neutral zone
-couldn't make 3 ft. passes
Johnny's my favourite player on this team to watch. But, when the team is playing poor, he tends to try and stickhandle through 3-4 players instead of trying to set things up. Stop it.
Monahan invisible for much of the night again. It's just happened way too much this year. I think he needs to play away from Johnny. When they're separated, he drives the play on his own much better. When they're paired, it seems like he depends on Johnny too much...needs to be more creative.
Teams have watched the video for the Flames new and improved PP. It's still much improved, but you can tell teams are onto it.
Would have been nice to get this one. Seems like a blown opportunity to get on another roll.

Some really dumb decisions with the puck in the offensive zone tonight. Terrible passing, plays dying on everyone's stick, and not enough quality shots. The PP wasn't very good either. The whole team really seemed to lack focus tonight.
Brodie and Gio were awful. Not gonna win many games when two of your top D men play like that.
And why is it that every time the Flames have a golden opportunity to gain some ground on the stupid Oilers, they always seem to blow it. Feels like we've been consistently 3 points behind them all year. So freakin' annoying.
Positives:
Johnson had another really strong game, and deserves to start against the Sharks.
The PK is still awesome.

This year's Flames cant come back from a goal down. Reminds me of Brent's seasons.
I'm going to start trashing Gulutzan again until they turn it around. Chiasson doesn't work on the top line, yet he stayed there all game.
Boring and brutal game. Brodie was awful.

Anyone else find the team incredibly...unlikeable tonight? Lots of mistakes, no emotion - except when they were complaining to the refs about non-calls...frustrating game to watch.
