Black C jersey > White C retros.

The white C's make the retro's look too orange. Love the deep red appearance that comes with the black C's.

A question for the jersey geeks: Are the two reds the same for each version?

Please, please the retros. Simple and classic. I will buy one if they go that route.

That goofy cowboy jersey was an abomination. Reminded me of a halloween costume.

I want "retro inspired" but not just a straight retro design.

For example, I liked what Boston and Vancouver did the last time around. Their jerseys look retro, but if you look through their uniform histories, you see that they never previously wore anything exactly like what they wear now.

The Bruins' uniforms are similar to what they wore during the Bobby Orr era, but not exactly...

The Canucks are also similar but different...

I don't mind black as an accent colour. The problem with the current uniforms is there's too much black. Ideally, I'd like it if they could find a dark red that would look good against the regular red to use as an accent colour instead of black.

Although the yellow stripes on the Heritage jerseys were ugly, when the logo was put on a solid red practice jersey, I thought it looked great.

If they do go full retro next season, one change I hope they make is to put the red line between the white and yellow on the logo.

First of all, ridiculous and stupid that thirds are being eliminated.

Second, for the love of god, this. Please..

I really have no hope for the Flames next jerseys. They will find a way to screw it up and not go with the popular retros.

I am lowering my expectations and now just hope they get rid of the flags and vertical piping.

Lucky for you I have a friend that works for the Flames and he sent me this picture as a teaser, hinting at the 2017 jerseys. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Spoiler!

Unpopular opinion here: I actually like the Flames home jerseys the way they are now and hope they keep them, with only a couple minor changes. I don't want our retros to become the home jerseys. I'd rather they keep them for just retro nights or 3rd jerseys

It's unpopular because it's wrong.

I wouldn't be against a new set entirely, something like changing the current homes to have last years CF third logo on the shoulders instead of the flags and ditching the piping.

But my big fear is that they'd screw it up and come out with some abomination like the walmart 3rd. So that's another reason to just go with the retros, you know what you're getting and you know it'll look great

This is a chance for something great to happen!

Unfortunately it won't, but still, it's a chance!

We need to switch to red helmets and shorts again for sure, minimize the black (or get rid of it all together, but I still think it could work as a trim color)

I wouldn't sweat it too much, I sincerely doubt that will last long. Just going off memory, but I'm pretty sure the NHL also did this during the last redesign in 2006-07. They just want people to buy the new kits. Give it 2-3 years once sales for the new ones taper off a bit and new thirds will be getting released en masse again.

I doubt it will be more than one season, and even then, the teams that play in any outdoor games will likely have one-off uniforms for those.

The second year after the Edge re-designs were done, 18 of 30 teams introduced third jerseys. AFAIK, the Adidas takeover won't be as radical an overall change as the Edge introduction was, so it shouldn't be that hard to re-introduce thirds in 2018.

Disagree. I like the simple single yellow outline.

Time to let the black C rest. It can come back in 5+ years and inspire nostalgia.

Those flags are the best thing ever put on any NHL jersey.

Exactly. As much as I pine for retro-only colours, I certainly recognize the black C has a lot of nostalgia itself from the 2004 run...as well as an entire generation of fans who have only known the black C. Hell I even really liked it for a few years, it's a decent-looking (if getting a bit stale now) jersey. It just can't compare to the red & yellow. I'm completely fine with bringing the black C back as a third, I just want to see a change to the main kits.

If the red retros, or a slight variation, are used, consistency should have whites to match.

And, name and number font change please...the best part of the old 3rd's were the updates to those...the current font has been used since the pedestal days 20+ years ago.

White C retro home, red C retro away, black C thirds when they bring them back in 2018-19.

Get 'er done.
