Default Half way point: Projected Player Stats

Backlund: 82 GP, 23G, 29A = 52 pts
Career year, think we are all happy with this one!

Gaudreau: 72 GP, 23G, 38A = 61 pts
Not as good as season 2 but better than season 1, hope he steps it up a bit.

Tkachuk: 78 GP, 14G, 37A = 51 pts
Best rookie stats since Johnny and can't think of a rookie before that that did this well..

Frolik: 82 GP, 20G, 27A = 47 pts
Swiss Army knife coming as advertised.

Hamilton: 81 GP, 12G, 34A = 46 pts
No complaining here, Hamilton looking good!

Monahan: 82 GP, 20G, 25A = 45 pts
Trending toward career low in goals, hope he steps it up.

Bennett: 82 GP, 18G, 18A = 36 pts
Trending toward exact stats as rookie. I suppose that's not terrible for a sophomore slump, but I think we are all hoping for more.

Versteeg: 70 GP. 16G, 26A = 42 pts
Not much to complain about here, certainly better than I was expecting.

Gio: 82 GP, 10G, 25A = 35 pts
Picking it up lately, hoping he can up the pace a bit.

Brouwer: 76 GP, 17G, 19A = 36 pts
Not bad, but I personally was hoping for more.

Stajan: 82 GP, 8G, 23A = 31 pts
Bounce back year.

Brodie: 82 GP, 6G, 25A = 31 pts
Stepping it up lately, might be able to outdo these totals.

Chiasson: 82 GP, 14G, 14A = 28 pts
OK for 3rd liner but not so great being on first line all the time.

Wideman: 75 GP, 6G, 19A = 25 pts
Meh, I'm still hoping he's gone for a 3rd/4th round pick.

Ferland: 82 GP, 10G, 12A = 22 pts
Has stalled in production. Would be good if he gets 10 goals and 25 pts I think. Or he just keeps hitting everything.

Jokkipakka: 68GP, 2G, 12A = 14 pts
I admit to being slightly disappointed.

Hathaway: 60 GP, 3G, 12A = 15 pts
KEEP THIS GUY IN, HE WINS.

Bouma: 64 GP, 5G, 5A = 10 pts
Meh.

If anyone wants to make this into a slick table, that would be sweet

Brouwer has scored between 33 and 43 points every year for the last 7 years. I don't know how or why anyone expected anything more than that from him.

It's because he's getting overpaid now so his 3 million dollar stats are tough to swallow at 4.5 million.

That's the team's fault, not his, no? He's doing what he does year after year.

Not his fault but expectations are high.

I criticized the Brouwer signing because I thought it was too much and had everyone jump on me. 4.5 million is alot for 30-40 pts. For some reason people thought he would fight and bring leadership and play hard nosed.

He has brought leadership and played hard-nosed. Never expected him to be a fighter.

And he will probably finish right around the 40 point pace. Not sure it's his fault his point totals aren't higher - he has played most of the year with Bennett, and almost everyone expected that Bennett would have a better year than he has so far.

Brouwer is at most 500K overpaid. UFA's cost money and that's the premium.

Yeah my only really big disappointment so far is Kevin. He's really underwhelmed me, pretty much across the board. Stars fans warned me he would be at best a #5 guy, and it seems they are right.

I agree. Jokipakka's had some flashes of brilliance (see: last 2:30 of last night's game) but those flashes seem to come few and far between. Hoping he'll develop into a quality #5 moving forward still, but as of right now it seems that at best he's a solid #6.

The OP further solidifies my belief that the Flames must re-sign Versteeg, though.

Technically, there's no premium for UFA's, they come at market value. It's the other players that come at a discount.

(Although I guess the discount on other players mostly just gets added to what the market can pay for UFA's.)

They garner a premium because an additional asset can be acquired for nothing more than an elevated salary.

Funny to see those smack together.

Didn't someone once say neither of these players were any good?

$3.0 m on the open market just doesn't buy what it used to. I have no problem with how Brouwer has played, he adds a dimension to this team with his presence in the lineup that is difficult to compensate for, and the Flames will look MUCH better when he returns in another couple weeks.

Brouwer was not signed to put up a bunch of points.

I noticed you didn't take into account missed games. That can change the optics a lot.

The offensive totals of the star players project to be lower then the last couple seasons. But in the end, the team as a whole seems to be playing a lot better. Less blown leads and less blowouts. I think we all knew going into this season that the team was willing to sacrifice high offensive numbers to cut down the GA, and that is what we are seeing.

So I'm cool with the players (especially on D) having lower point totals if it means we are a playoff team.

We don't see what goes on behind closed doors so the team saw his leadership impact right away and he immediately took over the A on the team.

I won't be sad if Kevin gets snagged by LV, Kulak can easily swap in for him.

Yes, missed games is taken into account. (See Gaudreau, his 82 game played pace points would be much higher)

But you have Brouwer on pace to play 76 games which would require him to be in the lineup tonight. I'm fairly sure that he will still miss another two or three games at least.
