The situation is that if Elliott is the starter, we're going out of the playoffs in the first round, if we even make it. The only way this isn't a goaltending situtation is if Chad Johnson was good rather than being on a hot streak

More like Grand Theft. He got every puck luck bounce he could get along with the help of his posts. Game of the year for Miller.

Didnt like the no goal call on Stajan. That is just good old time hockey, driving the net. Glenn Anderson and Ryan Smyth made their careers doing the exact same thing and the goals counted every time. Should have been 2-0 at that point.
The first Nuck goal was weak by Elliott and ended up being the turning point. Can't blame him on the other three, but 4 goals on 13 shots is beer league caliber not NHL caliber.
Flames dominated the shot clock and possession but there was a lot of sloppy play. Monahan and Gaudreau were particularly soft tonight.

It's actually very easy to blame him for three goals tonight.

Not kidding. Many of the shots he faced were of the tough variety.

[QUOTE=bubbsy;6072320]Meh...
Flames played alright. Weren't able to capitalize on their chances. Gave up a few good chances due to brain farts that the canucks managed to bury. I have been hard on elliott but can't put the blame on him tonight.
2 points in regulation tomorrow or I'll be quite upset.]
I agree there were some ridiculous giveaways by the Flames D but the Shaput goal was a total softie that dribbled through him and if you're a top tier goalie like we're paying Elliot to be, you can stop Markus freakin Granlund on a clear look wrister from 30 feet out. He was beat on that one before the puck ever left Granny's stick.
I mean he's not the only one who had a bad game but that kind of play certainly doesn't inspire any confidence. The guy is so fragile it's baffling. He's been in his own head from day 1. I wish he would just figure it out already and play like we all know he can. Enough of this 3 year soft goaltending nightmare already.

Come on. Unobstructed for 3 of 4 goals. None were egregious, but his save percentage does tell the tale of his effectiveness tonight

If people want to say Elliott hasn't been good enough this season, that's fair. If people want to say tonight was Elliott's fault, that's simply inaccurate.

Textcritic - Flames look to be a playoff bubble team with average goaltending. With good goaltending, they actually might be pretty good.
Don't you think Treliving needs to keep an eye on the goalie situation and not just close his eyes and ride the 2 goalies he has? I don't care about the record, the Flames goaltending has looked soft ever since Johnson cooled off. It would be a shame to see sub par goaltending torpedo another season.

Hopefully Johnson can get his groove back. Staple Elliott to the bench no excuse 4 goals on 13 shots that's just hot garbage.

Meh, weird one. Flames made a couple mistakes, but are going to win 9 of 10 in games like that, this happened to be that 1 in 10.

maybe not his fault but Elliott hasn't looked like a top flight goalie...at this point I think the Flames are looking for a legit #1

Gonna be honest, I didn't expect to win tonight. Not because of Elliott but because Flames have lost every big game against teams that haven't thrown in the towel already. At least they lost it in a correctable manner (bad isolated defensive plays + hot opposing goalie) and not an epidemic manner (getting outplayed).

The goaltending is fine when we are not throwing the puck away. Its been happening back to earlier games against the coyotes but those teams were so bad it didn't effect us. If we don't take care of the puck were not going to win.
