It doesn't matter how good the Flames are doing or whether or not we just witnessed one of the greatest WJC games ever, so many of you can't help but complain.

Says the hypocrite who whined like a little baby about something that has 0 effect on his daily life because he can't help but complain.

Seriously? I came to this thread wanting to chat about our Flames prospects one of which won the game for team USA. But instead of hockey talk it's a bunch of grown men whining about IIHF rules.
Start a thread about removing the shootout from IIHF if that's all you want to talk about. I'd like to talk about our prospects who participated in this tournament.

Or you could start a thread talking about Fox and Parsons. This is the game thread and people are discussing a huge issue they have with the game.

Sam Constinteno on 960 says that when the American coaches were asked about Terry's shootout goals in the post game media scrum, they said that Terry is a shootout wizard but this tournament was more about Parsons than Terry's shootout prowess.

And if you want to control what aspect of the game we should be allowed to discuss, start your own forum. Or, perhaps, you could join one of the existing threads about our prospects.
Or -OMG!- you might have simply posted your observations about our prospects and seen if anyone else actually wanted to talk about that too.
Instead, you took none of these options and opted instead to simply whine because people had the audacity to care about something you don't.

No you are talking about a huge issue you have with the rules of this tournament.
It has absolutely nothing to do with this game.
Nobody here is talking about the game (other then how apparently a shootout ruined everything that took place before it). As if a shootout magically erased the amazing game we watched.
SureLoss as usual is the only one here contributing to the thread in a positive way.

Fine, you win.
If everyone would prefer every thread in this forum devolves into a "You know what grinds my gears" rant then fine.
I know Bingo isn't happy with where this forum has headed and it's easy to see why. CP has been steadily declining and this is no longer the number 1 place to talk Flames which is sad considering the active, knowledgeable community CP once had.
SureLoss is the only good thing about CP these days. And it's at the point where he's not going to bother wasting his time posting here because nobody wants to talk about actual news, just complain about players who are playing fine and rules that have been in place for years.

You literally are complaining that people are talking about the game in the game thread while you want to talk about prospects.

In the part of the US where I live, and many others parts, I'm certain, the WJC creates no buzz at all...really, maybe a mention on page 3 of sports sections, or one sentence on any TV outlet in non-NHL markets.
I have been around CP a while now, and I appreciate the passion you Canadians have for all things hockey, but, to many Americans, even American NHL fans, like myself, an amateur tournament, even the worlds biggest amateur tournament, really seems no big deal. Talk to me when one of these kids does something in the NHL. Similar to my hatred for the Olympics, flag waving BS, or feelings of national inferiority, or superiority, based on mere athletic contests, seems silly, to me.
Canada is a great country, and has and will produce a lot of immensely talented hockey players. To see these kids pilloried in the press, or on twitter, (or even on internet forums!), for losing in a shootout, to another hand picked squad of talent, is excessive and wrong.

Everyone was talking about the game, except you. You are the one who derailed the thread with low effort whining. In fact, for someone who claims he wanted to discuss the players performances in this thread, you have not made a single post to that effect yourself.
Once again, take a look in the mirror dude.

I don't think they are being pilloried anywhere. In fact, pretty much everyone is calling it a fantastic hockey game. The reason it is so popular is that every shift is so intense because these kids leave it ALL on the ice every game.
The criticisms are about the shootout, which isn't the kids' fault.

Well, you guys pack 100K people into football stadiums to watch college (amateur) games and Bowl season is a little nuts. Each to their own

There was plenty of hand-wringing before the shootout even started.

Speed...I truly don't "get" college FB hype either...as a native Chicagoan, with nearly 20 colleges in the area, the College cheering stuff is pretty dilute, Chicago being a "pro" sports town...now, in Utah, where there are only two big colleges in the whole state, one of which is run by the dominant religion (BYU), and only an NBA team as a pro sports squad, local passions run higher.
My feelings, as a graduate of a smaller University, is that College sports should be for the STUDENTS of the college. The damn NBA and NFL should run their OWN minor league system. The money and corruption of the NCAA and network TV is ridiculous, as is having alleged "student-athletes" who would NOT be able to pass academic requirements get a free ride as they are exploited, at colleges, for their long shot professional dreams.

Nope.
Hated the outcome even when Toews did it.
It is a horrible way to decide something important. Who wins doesn't change my POV on that.

I'm not sure that others care to have you summarize their feelings about the forum or make predictions about what they are going to do. But as for complaining about players who are playing fine that's another opportunity for you to have a look in the mirror. Anyway, if you don't like the forum or the posters and there is a new "number 1 place to talk Flames":

there are so many better solutions then a shootout. I dont know why the NHL and IIHF like the shootout so much. For some reason they think fans like it.
Heck I would even try a crazy college football style 2 minute powerplay against 2 minute powerplay before having a shootout.
