LOL, don't care what anyone thinks. Want others to care how you think. You'll go far.

Don't think there's a spot long term here for Wotherspoon at all

Kulak and Jokipakka are already better and Andersson has a better team at making the team out of camp next year than Wotherspoon does IMO. Kylington not too far behind.

I don't care how you pronounce it, he'll always be Buzz Killington to me.

And yeah, pretty hard to trade Engelland at the deadline if Flames are in playoff contention, as your defense would be a joke outside of top 3. But you're not trading him at the draft as he will be UFA. So that's why I think he's a guy you sign for 2 years. I'm not too worried about a drop-off. In Engelland's case, he's not that high to begin with.

Of course other scenario is Flames trade for a defenseman at the deadline. Someone with term left on their contract. Which is entirely possible.
I'm fine, even happy, with Engelland back on a year to year basis. But with his style of play he could easily become redundant like Hannan was near the end, or god forbid that other big lug we had earlier this season (can't even remember his name because he sucked so much). I guess I see that drop off becoming a reality, and sooner rather then later.

Neither of those guys were very ''high'' either, but they were both pretty useless by the end and actually became liabilities. I'd hate to see Engelland end up like that and then the Flames be stuck with him for extra term.

In the end, I trust BT to do the right thing. But the Flames simply have to be careful with signing players around his age to multiyear deals.

But like I said earlier, Engelland is playing himself into another decent contract. Frankly I'd be happy for him if another team signs him to a 2-3 year deal. But I'd be leary if it was Calgary.

Wow, is there a special school for some people before they log on to this site. I've stated before I'm interested in "fans opinions", that's a far cry from not caring about anyone's opinions. Get into the game man! Smarten up! Give the head a shake! Want some coffee? Smelling salts?

I guess there are some brainless Fan 960 people here. Call up to the announcer who maybe plays beer league and knows about as much as the rest of us do. "Hey man, what do you think about Johnson? What do you think about the PP?". You guys need to realize, this station has broadcast rights to the players, they cannot always give you "their opinion" or they may not get another player or team interview.

Think for yourselves guys, have a critical objective mind. Trust me it makes the world a better place. The criticism you get back for speaking your mind is a small price to pay for being of free mind and free speech.

Wotherspoon plays a safe, reliable game. While it is true that he doesn't have a 'strength' like some others do in terms of offence, or physicality/mean streak, or something of the like, I think there is something to be said of defencemen that play a smooth, reliable defensive game. He moves the puck well also, which is almost a requirement of defencemen in the NHL.

I like Wotherspoon. Maybe his ceiling is low, but I think he will make a nice 'defensive minded' partner for a more offensive defencemen.

I agree, we shouldn't put Wotherspoon on the protected list anymore. I'd like to see him go to another team to succeed. Another Baertchi situation here... Calgary hated this guy. He's now tied with Daniel Sedin for 3rd on team scoring, he's the second top +/- on the team at 4, 4 game winning goals. Yeah, what a crappy player.

Can you name a sports franchise that has not had a player go on to have success with another team? Yeah Sven is having a little more success than I might have thought, but if your definition of failure is trading a guy who is now tied for 3rd on another team in scoring, you are in for a lifetime of heartbreak as a sports fan.

Normally when a good player escapes a team to go onto do good things its because he's a high end player that the team can't afford anymore. This is not the case here. Paul Byron wasn't either.

Who'd we trade Sven for? Where is he?

I want to point out I was one of the lone voices that saw the potential Sven had. I saw things in his game other's didn't even the so called professionals. I think we are only seeing the tip of Sven's potential, we beat him down good here in Calgary.

2015 2nd round pick.

Used on Rasmus Andersson, currently playing for the Stockton Heat.

He currently has 2 goals and 15 assists for 17 points, with a +14 and 22 PIMs.

He is 5th in the league for rookie Defencemen scoring, and tied for 17th in overall Defencemen scoring, and is tied for 4th in overall Defencemen +/-.

Seriously, get over it. If you must know, we traded him essentially for Rasmus Andersson. Also, it gave us an extra second rounder so we had the assets to acquire Dougie Hamilton. So, it really didn't turn out that poorly for us. Plus, who would Sven supplant on the left side? Even on our current team, he would be behind Johnny, tkachuk, AND versteeg on the depth chart. Tkachuk has the same number points playing tougher minutes, and versteeg has a higher ppg..

Ok, I'm done ranting now.

Lol, beaten to it.. Haha

Why be done with it? Hamilton is getting better I admit, I have been critical of his effort. However, at a point it looked like it was going to be a huge flop. Sven on the current team we basically wouldn't need Versteeg, they mirror each other a bit Sven obviously has a higher ceiling.

LOL and you were calling other people uninformed fan 960 callers.

It's not very often I put people on ignore, but you worked hard for it. Congratulations.

I love it when ignorant people do put me on their ignore lists!!!! It's a great troll spray! I'm probably a far more interesting commenter than you are so it's really not my loss.

Dude, you telling people to have a critical objective mind is ridiculous. You speak, cry, yell out of emotion WAY too much. That is not the definition of being critical or objective.

Versteeg's IQ seems higher than Sven's. Versteeg plays both wings, it seems. Sven couldn't play RW.

Hamilton only looked like a flop to people who had no patience at all and seemed like they wanted him to fail.

Actually, never mind, I really don't want to know.
