To note: Arizona is currently right at the 50 contract limit.

Good point. Sabres and Jets are at 43, though the Jets don't really need any more forwards... on the other hand if they claim him it allows them to use him as their spare and send Kyle Connor down to the AHL, which they should have done already.

I don't see who he would displace in the lineup right now.

Marcus Granlund is a better player, and nobody misses him. He fills an organizational need in that he is a RW, RHS... but that is it. He is slightly undersized (same size as Granlund, IIRC) and is not a fast skater.

Chiasson is a better player. Hathaway is a much better 4th liner. He is not displacing Brouwer or Frolik. Where would he fit?

I think Rattie has one really good quality - he has an excellent shot. However, the one glaring issue with him is that he is simply not quick enough to get to an area to use it.

In my opinion, he wouldn't have a spot on this team, and would simply replace Hamilton as the 13th forward (and I think Hamilton is a better and more useful/dynamic player than Rattie).

He would replace the injured Brouwer until he's healthy again, then he'd be back on the waiver wire. If he clears, I'm sure Stockton can make use of him, maybe they can treat him like a playoff rental of sorts.

In what circumstance would he play for Stockton? The Flames would have to trade for his rights.

If the Flames were to claim him, waive him after Brouwer is healthy, and find that nobody else wants him. Sorry for being unclear.

I thought you were fairly clear.

I would think in that scenario that the Blues would just reclaim him and sent him straight to their AHL team instead.

So the Oilers will claim him so they can talk about how they turned Yak into Rattie.

Wouldn't mind seeing a claim on Rattie.

I would bet Vancouver grabs him though. Him and Sven DID have pretty good chemistry once upon a time. It's not unheard of to ignite stuff like that. Theyre still relatively young players and what do they have to lose?

^Nothing to lose. Actually, it gains them something, because it allows them to deal Jannik Hansen at the deadline for a draft pick, assuming they weren't already planning to do that.

I would claim Rattie.

6 points in 13 NHL games last year. Not bad.

I think he'll be claimed. I wouldn't mind the Flames rolling the dice on him.

He was very promising but seems to have plateaued since turning pro. Remember when loads of posters were hoping he would be part of the return in a possible Iginla trade with St Louis?

I wouldn't mind seeing the Flames put a claim in for him, but I see him as a Max Reinhart/Roman Horak level player.

Mind you, I haven't actually seen him play since he was playing for Canada at the WJCs. I'm going more off his age, time in the minors and lack of sticking with the big club.

I will say though, the Flames are due for a waiver pick working out in their favour. It seems like the Flames have lost more good players from waivers than they've picked up.

With Arizona up against the limit I suspect he clears rather easily. Perhaps the Canucks make a claim but I don't see the Flames in on this

At least those two play defense, Ratttie doesn't so I would say he is a lower level player than them.

I wouldn't waste the time claiming Rattie, he isn't a good enough skater to be a top 6 player and he doesn't do anything else well enough to play outside of the top 6.

0 points in 4 games this year. Not much better for the Chicago Wolves either. At 6' and 190 pounds, he's not a Brouwer replacement.

The Blues could only do that if they both won the claim for Rattie if Calgary were to waive him a second time after acquiring him on waivers AND if less than 10 games or 30 days (whichever comes first) have passed.
