That was a terrific first period, the Devils still have a 1-0 lead. The Bruins were being out shot 12-5 in the first half and then got eight shots to take the lead.

Great rush up ice by Miles Wood and centering feed leads to a Sergey Kalinin goal. 2-0 Devils over Bruins.

Taylor Hall scores the empty net goal, 3-0 Devils is the final score. Kalinin and Hall each with a goal and an assist and Schneider with the 22 save shutout.

When playing Vancouver the Avalanche look like an almost competent team

After scoreless first period, there were goals in the second period. Bo Horvat scored and then 65 seconds later on the power play, Rantenen scored to tie the game. Late in the period, Baertschi scored to make it 2-1 Canucks after forty minutes. The Avalanche have a dubious record of 2-18-0 when trailing after two periods.

John Shannon @JSportsnet Don't look now...the Vancouver Canucks have won 4 straight games...and just 1 point back from a Wild Card Position.

They're screwing up their draft position!

Baertschi now has more points than Monahan in less games and if I'm not mistaken almost a PPG in the last 20 or so games.

Easy answer obviously. Of course one guy is getting paid like a franchise player, signed to a LT deal and is expected to be a foundational player and arguably the success of the team largely rides on his play.

So both players are surprises so far this year.

Who do you think? Still funny reading posts writing Baertschi off while he's still young and improving.

If Baertschi gets his mojo back and learns to keep it I suspect he'll shut a lot of mouths here in cowtown, the young man still has the talent to be a very good winger.
