Ammon dump explodes destroying forward camp. Reports of possibly 300+ dead. No word of it in the mainstream media.

I actually did hear about a fire at an ammo dump last weekend in the mainstream media. I don't know where, but I did hear it. It was passed over as "fire at ammo dump, no casualties".
That indymedia report was so poorly and chaotically written and so rife with editorializing by the author I found it hard to take too seriously.
We've seen dozens of pictures like that big explosion in the video. I don't know why we should be expected to believe that was a nuke more than a conventional weapon going off. And besides, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think nukes "go off" accidentally because they get too hot, like a conventional weapon or a fuel tank would.
This would be just too big to cover up.

It's an ammo dump... where they store explosives.... a large explosion happens and this is a nuclear strike? Nope. The reason it's thought to be one is the light from the small (but larger looking) explosion overloaded the camera since it was shooting in the dark. Most static explosions will have a mushroom cloud from the heat rising. The small jugs of fertilizer and desiel fuel at the Lethbridge Airshow is a good example of this. Not a nuke at all. Too small of an explosion to be one.

They wouldn't cause a nuclear explosion, since heat alone from a fire or explosion won't allow it to reach critical mass, besides depleted Uranium is not a nuclear explosives fuel.
Its a superdense metal, thats about it.

I think he was joking about the depleted uranium...
If a sub-kiloton nuclear explosion can be confirmed in the underground of N. Korea, there's no way they could hide this if there was a nuclear weapon going off.

Wouldn't a nuclear warhead, even a small one, wreak havoc on the local electrical grid? I'm no expert, but I believe the electromagnetic pulse would take out electical power and I didn't see any lights go out.

I heard about it last week, the news confirmed zero American casualties. If it turns out there actually were some (hard to believe there were none given the size/scope of the explosions and the fact that it was a US base)... I certainly haven't heard about it from CNN.

There are conflicting reports as to the reason for the explosion, as well as casualities. Insurgents claim it was because of a mortar attack. I'm surprised there has not been more information on this. An attack and an explosion of this magnitude in Iraq should be a major story.

Not that big an explosion at all...look at the standard highway concrete dividers at the bottom of the picture to get a sense of scale, not to mention that most of the burned out structures are about the right size for standard roll-on/roll-off shipping containers, like you see on a train. A walk from those to the buildings in the background is probably 20 minutes, if not more, given the angle of the photo.
