Flames vs Coyotes, 8:00 PM MST. CBC, Fan 960

(note: I may be wrong about the CBC thing. I've also seen Sportsnet One. Check your local listings)

Well, we say bye-bye to 2016 tonight, and a hockey game's a pretty good way to do it. And even though Arizona isn't the most glamourous of opponents, That Darn Puppet sees the opportunity for fireworks:

Spoiler!

Go Flames

If practicing in home goal is a indicator. Chad Johnson starts in goal. #Flames

@RogMillions and then again Brian Elliott comes off ice first. So much for that game. I'm done.

Important to pick up 2 points tonight. No games until Wednesday means a loss could very well see them slip out of the final wild card spot by the time they play next.

In anticipation of 2017, I predict a 7-1 Flames Win. Go Flames.

On another note, heard Eric Francis on Fan960 yesterday. I'll paraphrase here. He goes on to say that anyone who thinks that the Flames are the most penalized team due to the Wideman factor is dumb - wouldn't even entertain the conversation if broached. Almost immediately after, reports that it is true; since the day that the incident happened, Calgary became the most penalized team in the league. Yet, the two are completely unrelated and anyone who drows this conclusion is delusional.

I get that some may not believe that there is a conspiracy against the flames - I can both appreciate and understand this. But to provide a statistic that directly contradicts your statement is absolutely senseless.

Having lived in Edmonton for 10 years, and not a guy who reads, the paper, I didn't understand the disdain for Francis on these boards. It took only a few minutes listening to him to realize why. What a moron.

Then he goes on to say that Hathaway and Tkachuk are Kessler comparables. We shouldn't hate Kessler given we have two of them in our own roster.

Somewhere in all this, says that Johnny was slashed on the wrists 8 times during the Anaheim game. This will not go away and the flames need to learn how to neutralize this (without taking penalties of course though he believes in the enforcer/fighting). Indicated that taking out a team's best player in this fashion is justifiable.

My only regret is not recording this discussion on my phone.

This is the beginning of a stretch of winnable games. Time for the boys to bank a lot of points and secure a strong spot for the run to the playoffs!

Go Flames Go!

Domingue, like the coyotes, having a bad run. Treat him like Bernier and end the year on a high note.

This should be a piece of cake, but hopefully the Flames don't take it as lightly

8pm start means the players don't really get a New Year's Eve. It would be hard to be back on the bus by midnight.

According to my Bell TV listings, CBC Calgary is carrying the Calgary game.

CBC Vancouver and Edmonton are carrying the Edmonton-Vancouver game as well as SN-W-P-E and O. The rest of the country is showing New Years celebrations.

Sportsnet 1 and 360 are carrying the Calgary game as well.

The NYE game is my favourite regular season game of the year. Having the Coyotes in it slightly dampens my excitement, but once the puck drops I'll be into it. My cheese fondue and bottle of Cassini Cellars Godfather are prepped, and I'm ready to watch the Flames win the last game of 2016. Hopefully this is the start of a big win streak. There are a lot of winnable games coming up. I'd like to see them stay out of the penalty box more than they have been.

Have a bad feeling about this one.

Actually glad to see Elliott getting the start. That second goal on Johnson was pretty bad last game. At least the goalies are being held accountable.
