Was thinking about it earlier but I think missing Brouwer is a bigger loss than people realize. Having a tough honest vet like him can be a calming presence, for both sides. I've noticed whenever he skates into a scrum everyone sort of cools it immediately. Not in a "I'll beat you up if you don't stop" kind of way but he just seems to have a lot of respect around the league.

You could be right I suppose, but I have to say I doubt any players in the NHL will "cool it" simply because Brouwer or any veteran skates into a scrum. These are athletes competing against each other.

Am probably wrong/reading too much into it. I just noticed after whistle activities stop when he skates up, that's all.

I was actually happy with Bouma going after Kesler. Kesler and his "What did I do?" - just makes you want to punch him in the face.

Wideman made some crucial mistakes - and I think he is undeservedly a whipping boy on these boards this season. Last night just wasn't his night. Giordano made a few mistakes too. Bennett... it happens. Ducks play a very good game that is physical and gets under the opposing players' skin. That, and the flu is apparently running through the team. You just have to write this off and move on. We have no idea who is playing under the weather. I bet Monahan had the flu as he seemed slower in every way out there. Hopefully it just passes through the team shortly.

He could have ended Johnny's career with that idiotic crosscheck to the back of the head. I'm still enraged over it. Very disappointed that someone didn't cheapshot him by the end of the game, but then again that's not a very 'Flames' thing to do. I'm too bloodthirsty to ever become a competitive coach in contact sports.

Yup. Exactly the kind of game that you acquire guys like him for.

Having said that, the Flames have come a long way since facing Anaheim in the playoffs 2 years ago, and that game was a good learning experience for continuing to get better. And maybe not having Brouwer in the lineup forced more situations onto younger guys.

We're not there yet, but we're getting closer. In a year or two, we will take over that rivalry, and owning the old and fading Kesler, Getzlaf and Perry will be so delicious!

Lol. Is it just because it is Scorpion that you guys are acting all aggro?

How about the dozens of other posters that have posted links to their sites in other threads or started threads linking to their NHL/Flames/Draft write ups? It suddenly became wrong now that it's him?

Or better yet, contribute yourself instead of just whining about other people's contributions.

The Ducks have the Flames number when they play this way. As you mentioned, the record of the last 14 games between these teams speaks for itself.
Kesler would be a good mentor for Tkachuk. The Flames were out coached and outsmarted on winning the game within the game.

Bite your tongue! We want Tkachuk to play with an edge and be tough and annoying. We don't want him to be total ######bag who chirps, plays dirty and won't back it up.
